SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Sun Devil triathlon is off to the NCAA West Region National Qualifier, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 12 and will be live streamed via Planet 417, here. Saturday's race is the team's final competition before the Collegiate Triathlon National Championship in Clermont, Florida.
The race will be held at Fellows Lake in Springfield, Mo., during The Heartland Triathlon Cup. Saturday's race opens with a swim of approximately 0.5 miles and then transitions into a bike ride of just over 12 miles. Competitors end the competition with a 3.1-mile run.
MJ Lopez Aguirre, Zoe Mari Adam, Faith Dasso, Camille Buchanan, Sidney Clement, Madison Judas, Britney Brown, Naomi Ruff, Alice Alessandri, and Amber Schlebusch will all be competing on Saturday.
Ruff is coming off her second win at the Battle in the Fort where she dominated the run and finished with a time of 1:02:45. Clement was also strong in Texas, coming in third to round out the podium finishes for ASU.
Five members of the team, along with head coach Cliff English, will head to the 2024 World Triathlon Championships in Torremolinos, Spain October 17-20.
