LAKE ELMO, Minn. - Sun Devil Women's Golf opened their 2024-25 season by completing the first round at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate on Monday.

Arizona State (+6/294) finds themselves tied for 10th in the 12-team field following 18 holes, only four strokes out of fifth place in a crowded leaderboard. Patience Rhodes looked to be in midseason form, as she put together a fantastic first round of her redshirt sophomore campaign. Rhodes led the way for the Sun Devils, firing a 68 (-4) and will begin the second round only two strokes back in a tie for eighth.

Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team is one of nine preseason Top-30 teams at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, making it one of the top events of the Fall. A strong finish this week would go a long way in boosting Arizona State's ranking and cement their status as a Top-10 team. Freshman Isla McDonald-O'Brien, who made her Sun Devil debut today, will play an essential role in the future of the campaign. She recorded four birdies during her first round in Maroon & Gold, the second-most on the team. ASU found their most success on the 18th hole, highlighted by a Grace Summerhays eagle, one of only seven by the field on the day. Arizona State will attempt to make up ground in the second of three rounds starting tomorrow at 7:25 AM MST.

"Patience was excellent today," Coach Farr-Kaye observed. "She had an outstanding summer and built on that today. The most exciting part is she gets better every day, so the best has yet to come."

"As a team, we have some things to build off of," Coach Farr-Kaye added. "We can take advantage of our opportunities better and the leaderboard is very crowded. There was some positive discussion after the round and I expect us to be ready to go tomorrow."
