FORT WORTH, Texas – For the second straight season, Sun Devil Triathlon's Naomi Ruff claimed the individual title at the Battle in the Fort after crossing the finish line in 1:02:45 on Sunday. The University of Arizona claimed the team title with 257 points, while ASU's 242 points was enough to take second place.
Sidney Clement was the lone other Sun Devil in the top 10, finishing third with a time of 1:03:10.
A trio of Sun Devils finished 12-14 led by Britney Brown's 12th-place time at 1:04:40 followed by Faith Dasso finishing 13th with her time of 1:04:44. Freshman Alice Alessandri made her ASU debut and capped off the scores for ASU, finishing in 14th place with a time of 1:04:50
Outside of the top 20, Camille Buchanan finished 26th with 1:06:27, Madison Judas in 47th with her time of 1:11:05, and Kaia Merrill capping off the Sun Devils at 58th with a time of 1:16:15.
ASU returns to action as a team on October 12 at the NCAA West Qualifier in Springfield, Mo.
After West Qualifiers, on October 18 Naomi Ruff and Faith Dasso will represent the USA in the U23 2024 World Triathlon Championships. Sidney Clement (Canada), Zoe Mari Adam (Puerto Rico), and Britney Brown (USA) will all compete in the Juniors group on October 19.
