LAKE ELMO, Minn. - Sun Devil Women's Golf showed vast improvement at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in their second round of the 2024-25 season.
Arizona State (+7/583) shot the third-best round of the day, allowing them to move up four spots into six place after two days at Royal Golf Club. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team dropped their total by five strokes compared to yesterday as they continue to get more and more comfortable with the course. The entire lineup contributed to the progress, with four of the five Sun Devils boosting their scores.
Patience Rhodes (-2/142) continues to lead the way for the Sun Devils, sitting in the Top-10 through 36 holes. Not far behind is Beth Coutler (+1/145), who jumped into a tie for 16th after shooting a team-best 70 (-2) today. Joining Coulter in going under par on Tuesday was Paula Schulz-Hanssen (+3/147), as she climbed 19 spots up the leaderboard thanks to a 71 (-1). Grace Summerhays repeated her efforts from yesterday, recording an eagle on the 18th hole for the second straight day. She is the lone golfer in the field with two eagles through two days. Freshman Isla McDonald-O'Brien looked more consistent in her second round as a Sun Devil, shaving two strokes off her score. Arizona State looks to keep rising up the leaderboard when the final round starts tomorrow at 6:30 AM MST.

Ranked teams #4 UCLA, #5 South Carolina, #8 Oregon, #9 Arizona State, #15 Wake Forest, #19 Clemson, #22 Duke, and #25 UCF are joined by host Minnesota in a battle for early bragging rights. In total, nine of the GOLF Channel's preseason Top-30 teams in the country will be in Minnesota this weekend.

HISTORY AT ANNIKA INTERCOLLEGIATE
Sun Devil Women's Golf is making its sixth appearance at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, also competing back in 2022, 2021, 2019, 2016, & 2014. In their most recent visit to Royal Golf Club, current juniors Paula Schulz-Hanssen and Beth Coulter made their collegiate debuts as ASU finished in eight place. Three of the five Sun Devils have experience playing this course.
In 2019, Linn Grant led the way finishing tied for eight, while ASU placed fourth as a team among a loaded field at one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season. The Maroon & Gold ended up ahead of several talented teams in the standings at the end of the three-day event, including No. 1 USC, No. 2 Duke, No. 6 UCLA, and No. 12 Arizona. Arizona State also participated back in 2014 & 2016 when the tournament was in Orlando. During the 2016 ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Linnea Strom recorded one of her 20 career Top-10 individual finishes, earning a tie for eighth. Back in 2014, Noemi Jiminez put together a strong performance, finishing in the Top-5 of the individual race.
2024-25 Arizona State Women's Golf Schedule
Arizona State will be tested throughout the campaign as Coach Farr-Kaye built one of the nation's toughest slates once again. The Maroon and Gold will compete in a total of ten regular season events, five in the Fall and five in the Spring. The postseason begins April 15 at the Big 12 Championship, with NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships scheduled for the month of May.
