Jacob Tobias Earns Baseball's Fourth Straight Pac-12 Player of the Week Award

Jacob Tobias Earns Baseball's Fourth Straight Pac-12 Player of the Week AwardJacob Tobias Earns Baseball's Fourth Straight Pac-12 Player of the Week Award

For the fourth week in a row, a Sun Devil has earned the Pac-12 Player of the Week award. It's the first time in the non-divisional era of the league that one team has won the award four times in a row, and the first time since USC won four straight Pac-10 South Player of the Week awards in 1991. This week, the honor goes to the man that batted in the game-winning run against UNLV on Saturday night and put the cherry on top of a six-run ninth inning to complete a sweep in ASU's last weekend playing in Phoenix Municipal Stadium as a member of the Pac-12.

Jacob Tobias posted a ridiculous 13 RBIs in three games this weekend, starting with eight on Thursday night – when he batted 5-for-5 – which tied the fourth most RBIs in a game by a Sun Devil in program history. This came after he set a career-best of six RBIs against Stanford last Sunday, meaning the junior batted in 19 runs in his last four games.

With three home runs this week, two coming in Thursday's game against Texas Tech, Tobias is now tied for eighth among ASU players since 1998 with 18 homers on the season. Adding on a double, Tobias bat a casual .615 on 8-of-13 hitting and a 1.385 slugging percentage to go along with reaching base at a .706 clip this week.

The biggest hit of them all was on the last pitch of the weekend, when he lofted the first pitch he saw over the shortstop's head and saw it come down perfectly in center field to bring in the game-winning run and cap off a six-game win streak for the Sun Devils as they head into the postseason.
