OREGON– Arizona State lacrosse (7-9, 2-4) wrapped up their 2024 regular-season road slate against the University of Oregon (8-5, 2-4) in the 20-12 loss on Saturday in Eugene. Despite the loss, freshman midfielder Anna Viglione recorded a career-high 14 draw controls against the Ducks.

The Ducks managed to score the first four goals of the game on their first four possessions, and were all gas from the jump. Oregon was given seven eight position attempts and converted on seven of them, which gave them the edge in the matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Ducks controlled the opening draw and took it right to the net just eight seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. Three minutes, three draw controls, and three goals later Oregon led 4-0. ASU was on the board after a free position goal from Shannon Urey. Back-to-back man-up goals from Bella Ingrao and Lydia Oldknow had ASU within one. Oregon netted two goals to push the lead up to 6-3 and Sara Flobeck entered at goalie. A goal from Urey closed out the quarter and it was a 6-4 Oregon lead.

Oregon jumped on two goals in the second quarter and it was an 8-4 lead for the Ducks. Teagan Ng, Mina Scott, and Urey each netted ASU goals, but the Ducks managed to outscore ASU 5-3 in the second frame and take an 11-7 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Oregon netted six goals before the Sun Devils could get on the board in the third quarter with just 1:21 remaining on the clock. The lone ASU goal in the frame came from Zoe Mazur and it was a 17-8 deficit headed into the final quarter of play.

In the final frame, Flynn Murphy saw time in goal and was backed up immediately with goals from Scott and Emma Heenan, Kate Mayle, and Reese Napier but the deficit was too much and the 20-12 score was final.
