TEMPE - No. 23 Arizona State Men's Tennis (9-4) hung on to defeat No. 58 Boise State (6-8) in the first match of the Diablos College Invitational on Friday night at Kiwanis Park after a 3-0 lead vanished after five singles matches. Bor Artnak rallied from behind to clinch Arizona State's 4-3 victory, and keep ASU in the winner's bracket. The team will continue day two of the tournament with a shot to take down No. 15 Michigan State tomorrow, March 2 at 5 p.m MST. 

The Sun Devils took the first two doubles matches to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Murphy Cassone and Jacob Bullard had no trouble putting away their Bronco opponents 6-1, and Daniel Phillips and Nicola Cigna rallied back from a 5-4 deficit on court three to secure the point 7-5. 

Cassone also picked up the first victory in singles, winning in straight sets. On court three, Max McKennon put the Sun Devils up 3-0, also winning in straight sets. After dropping courts five, six, and four, however, the Sun Devils made it entertaining for the fans that flocked to court two for the watch finish. 

Bor Artnak, after losing the first set, had battled back to be down three games to two in the third set. Once the pressure was on, he rallied to win four of the last five for a 6-4 victory and a Sun Devil 4-3 victory. Artnak upset the #43 ranked ITA singles player in Sam Sippel.
