SETTING THE SCENE
The Sun Devils came into this weekend having played seven of nine games on the road. This weekend's games vs. the Washington schools began a stretch in which the Sun Devils are playing four of their final six regular season contests at home. After Sunday's game, the Sun Devils will travel to the Bay Area for rematches with Cal and No. 3 Stanford. They will then conclude the regular season with home rematches against No. 9 UCLA (Feb. 29) and No. 10 USC (Mar. 2).

Like their upcoming last four games of the season, Sunday's game is a rematch of a game played earlier this season. On Jan. 19, the Sun Devils lost at WSU 79-64. Jalyn Brown scored a game-high 21 points and freshman Mallory Miller added a career-high 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Jaddan Simmons (13 points, seven rebounds, game-high seven assists, game-high five steals) and Isadora Sousa (career-high 12 points, seven rebounds) combined for 25 points for the Sun Devils, who were on relatively even terms with the Cougars in scoring (edged WSU 58-57) over the final three quarters after falling behind 22-6 in the first quarter.

The Sun Devils started the weekend with double-overtime 73-66 win over Washington on Friday, a contest in which the Sun Devils came back from 14 points down to claim the win. Trayanna Crisp (23 points) and Isadora Sousa (16 points) both posted career highs in scoring as the duo combined for 39 points. ASU's top scorer, Brown, who came into the game No. 2 in the Pac-12 in scoring in league games, scored all 16 of her points in the second half and overtime. Combined with Crisp's (16 points) and Sousa's (14 points) scoring contributions, the trio of Brown, Crisp and Sousa accounted for 46 of ASU's 58 points over the last 30 minutes of the game. Freshman Mallory Miller, who scored seven points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds, hit a jumper in regulation to get ASU within two and them stepped up again by hitting a pair of free throws with 15 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

SERIES NOTES VS. WASHINGTON STATE
• The Sun Devils have been victorious in 38 of their last 48 meetings against WSU, including the last 11 of the last 14. This will be the first time ASU and WSU will play two regular season games after playing just once each of the last three seasons. In 2021-22, ASU's games vs. the Washington schools (scheduled to be played in Tempe) and the 2021 games vs. the Washington schools (scheduled to be played in Washington) were all postponed and eventually canceled due to Covid-19 protocols.
• WSU claimed a 61-57 win last season in Tempe. Jaddan Simmons (20 points) Trayanna Crisp (11 points) combined for 31 of ASU's points.
• WSU's 65-58 win in Pullman, Wash., in 2022 ended ASU's 11-game winning streak in the series. Simmons led all scorers with 22 points, 19 of which came in the second half. Seven of the 10 shots Simmons attempted in the final 20 minutes swished through the net, including a trio of triples.
• In the only meeting between the two squads in 2021 in Tempe, Simmons (15 points, 6-6 FTs) led ASU in a 67-61 win over the Cougars.
