Arizona State Head Coach Bobby Hurley:
Opening Statement:
"I thought we had a really good half, played a really good second half. Just liked how we came out after they closed the gap and got it to even at the half. Defensively, I thought we were really good the first ten minutes. We were able to consistently get stops and played solid basketball on the offensive end. We had good balance on the offensive end. Our shooting numbers were strong again tonight, so I'm happy about that. The only negative really was (being) a little bit loose with the basketball. It's kind of uncharacteristic of our team. We're usually a very low turnover team. We had too many tonight, but outside of that, very happy with our performance."
On what he sees from Jamiya Neal's game over the last few games:
"He's very good on defense. He had the steal late. He got a deflection right in front of our bench and he was the only guy pressing at that point and immediately dove on the floor and got it and went and finished. Those are the type of effort plays that we need. On the offensive end, he seems to be in a very good rhythm. He's getting drives to the basket where he could finish and then he's also shooting the three better lately."
On how the lineup changes have helped with rebounding:
"I'm sure it certainly helps. It puts bigger bodies on the floor. Physically, we match up a little more traditionally to our opponent and we have good rebounders at the guard positions. So now with Sean (Phillips Jr.) and Bryant (Selebangue), their ability to rebound helps in that regard."
Arizona State Forward Jamiya Neal
On what worked for him tonight:
"I felt like tonight a couple of shots were falling, I felt like in a couple of games I was close to breaking that 20-point barrier, but I just keep getting 17, 18, 19. Even tonight I was missing some free throws I should've made, so I think it's just trying to be consistent and do what works every game."
On what changed for the team on defense in the second half:
"Effort. Just going over what worked in the first half and the stuff that didn't work, obviously we had to stop Bilodeau and we know that they had a lot of ball handlers, so we had to pressure them."
Arizona State Guard Adam Miller
On what has led to the team being more efficient in the past few games:
"I think just focus and maturity. Just understanding that we're here to do a job at the end of the day and I think we locked in and practiced a little more. When you get to the point in the season like this, we have to make decisions and you're either going to crumble or stand up. I think we just stood up and played harder."
On first experience in a rivalry game against Arizona this weekend:
"I've heard about how serious it is, but for me it's just a big game, I know it's a big game for Coach and the team. So I'm going to play my hardest, I know it's a little bigger for everyone around here so I'm going to try and play hard."
