LAST TIME OUT:
Two weeks ago the Sun Devils opened their season going 4-0 in the Cross Conference Challenge, defeating Cal Lutheran, No. 20 Wagner, No. 18 LMU and Salem on Jan.20-21. The Sun Devils set the program record for most goals in a game with 26 against the Regals and the largest margin of victory (24) in their season-opening win. ASU has scored double-digit goals in all four of their games, and used a strong second half in games against Wagner and LMU to grab the win, allowing only seven goals between each team in the second half combined between games.

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK:
Two weeks ago, Luca Petrovary reached the top-10 all-time scoring list with 147 career goals and can easily reach the top-5 this weekend with 13 goals to reach 160 career goals and become the ninth Sun Devil to surpass 150 career goals. The graduate is also the only Sun Devil to have multiple games with seven goals in the same game and became the ninth Sun Devil in program history to reach 200+ points. She also leads the team currently with 17 goals and has accumulated 24 points.

DUO FROM DOWN UNDER
Sophie Shorter-Robinson and Millie Quin each have double-digit goals through four games, combining for 29 goals, 13 assists and 12 steals in the Cross Conference Challenge two weeks ago. In three of the last four games, Shorter-Robinson has had 3+ goals and assembled a career high six goals in the season opener against Cal Lutheran. California transfer Millie Quin made her mark with 15 goals, five assists and seven steals, totaling 3+ goals in every game so far for the Sun Devils.

Sun Devil Outlook (4-0):
  • The Sun Devils are 4-0 for the first time since the 2021 season, they're seeking their first 5-0 start since that same year.
  • ASU is outscoring opponents 72-24 through four games this year.
  • Luca Petovary, Sophie Shorter-Robinson and Millie Quin scored five goals apiece in the 20-5 victory. It's the first time that three Sun Devils scored 5+ goals in the same game.
  • Lara Kiss leads the team with eight assists and ranks fourth all time with 106 career assist. The graduate is 13 away from tying Ashley Bower (2004-07) for most all-time.
  • In a win against No. 20 Wagner, sophomore Sanne Keijzer made 20-saves, becoming the fourth Sun Devil to have 20 saves in a single game which ranks tied for third all-time in program history.
  • The Sun Devils come into the Triton Invite ranked No. 14, holding steady after a 4-0 start in the Cross Conference Challenge.
  • Friday will mark the 14th meeting all-time between UC San Diego and the Sun Devils, the maroon & gold hold a 13-1 advantage and have won 13 straight against the Triton with the latest meeting coming in 2020 where ASU emerged victorious, 13-8.
Opponent Outlook:
No. 9 UC San Diego: (5-1)
  • Coming into the Triton Invite, the host school has won four straight games, with their only defeat coming to then-No.3 UCLA on Jan. 20.
  • Lucia Doak and Kendall Thomas each lead the team with 11 goals through six games.
  • The Triton's defeated California Baptist and Fresno Pacific over the weekend with a combined score of 34-14.
No. 2 UCLA: (4-0)
  • The Bruins have scored double-digit goals in all four games this season and have victories over No. 10 UC San Diego, Marist, UCSB and UC Davis.
  • UCLA has won five straight over the Sun Devils and would be the first of at least two times they'll meet this year. The game would count as a non-conference game between MPSF opponents.
  • UCLA will take on California Baptist at 3:40pm MST on Friday before ASU's matchup against UC San Diego.
California Baptist: (1-3)
  • The only win of the season for the Lancers came against the Redlands in a 26-7 victory this past weekend.
  • ASU is 14-1 over the Lancers with the latest meeting coming last season where the Sun Devils defeated CBU 17-5.
