TEMPE, Ariz.- After winning all six of his individual events in the win over No. 9 Stanford and the tie with defending two-time NCAA champions No. 3-ranked California, junior Léon Marchand has been named the Pac-12 Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
This is the fourth Pac-12 Weekly/Monthly Award of Marchand's career, after being recognized for a Pac-12 Weekly/Monthly Award three times last season. In No. 1/19 Swim and Dive's trip to the Bay Area schools, Marchand was victorious in all six individual events he swam and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay at Stanford.

A LOOK AT THE TIMES
Marchand is the school record holder in the 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM and 500 free. He has the NCAA records in the 200 IM and 400 IM.
He set the swimming world ablaze over the summer when he broke the world record in the 400m IM at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan as he swam a 4:02.50 on July 23. The record was previously held by Michael Phelps, which had been set in 2002. Later that week, he won world championships in the 200m butterfly and 200m IM.
Prior to this past summer, Marchand made his mark in sophomore campaign as he repeated as the CSCAA Division I Men's Swimmer of the Year and the Pac-12 Men's Swimmer of the Year as the Sun Devil men won their first Pac-12 Championship in program history and were runner-ups at the NCAA Championships.
At Pac-12s, he won the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 breast, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 800 free relay. A few weeks later at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, he won a national championship in three events: 200 IM, 200 breast and 400 IM. He repeated as the NCAA champion in the 200 breast and 200 IM after his standout freshman campaign.
After the greatest dual meet in men's swimming history this past weekend in Berkeley, Marchand and the Sun Devil men are preparing to make some noise in their final dual meet of the season against in-state rival Arizona in February and at both the Pac-12 Championships and NCAA Championships.

A LOOK AT THE TIMES
- Marchand's time in the 200 IM at Stanford currenty leads all Division I men's swimmers. His time in the 200 IM on Friday, along with his times 100 breast and 200 breast, broke pool records at Avery Aquatic Center.
- His time of 51.48 in the 100 breast at Stanford is fourth fastest in school history with his time of 51.37 at California being the third fastest time in school history as Marchand holds the top-four fastest times in school history in the 100 breast.
- At California, Marchand took down the Spieker Aquatic Center's pool records in the 200 IM, 100 breast and the 200 breast as both California and Arizona State's men's swim programs combined to break 13 pool records.
- Marchand swam a 1:51.71 in the 200 breast at Stanford, which enters the top-10 for times in this event in school history. He now holds nine of the top-10 fastest times in the 200 breast in school history.
- In the 200 IM, Marchand currently holds the NCAA record in this event after swimming a 1:36.74 in the event at the NCAA Championships last season. His times of 1:38.78 and 1:38.93 he swam in this weekend's dual meets are the fifth-fastest and eighth-fastest in school history. He also holds nine of the top-10 times in program history for this event.
