AUSTIN -- Sun Devil Lacrosse graduate Kaylon Buckner was one of 49 DI student-athletes named to the 2023 Academic All-America® Women's At-Large Teams selected by the College Sports Communicators – formerly College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) – according to an announcement on Thursday.
Buckner was selected as a First Team member and is the first Arizona State lacrosse player to be selected to Academic All-America®.
A team captain in her final season as a Sun Devil, Buckner started and played in all 19 games. The midfielder had a career-high six goals against Colorado on March 25 and her 35 total goals this season is also a career-high and led the team. Buckner also led the Sun Devils in points (43), free position goals (11), shots on goal (73), draw controls (86) and free position shots (26). In postseason play, she had two more goals, which brings her total career goals in the postseason to seven. Buckner finishes her career as a Sun Devil playing the most games in program history with 80 and finishes her career with the most draws at 223. She recently participated for Team North in the 2023 IWLCA Senior All-Star game.
Buckner completed her final semester with 4.0 GPA to graduate with a 4.0 overall GPA for her master's in Digital Audience Strategy.
