PITTSBURGH – After earning the second-highest postseason score in program history at regionals, No. 15 Sun Devil Gymnastics is competing in the NCAA Regional Finals in the Pittsburgh Regional this Sunday at 2 p.m. MST/5 p.m. EDT.
Arizona State will compete in the regional finals for the second time in the last three seasons after also advancing in 2021. The squad will face off against No. 2 Florida, No. 7 Cal and No. 10 Michigan State on Sunday. The teams that finish first and second in the regional final will advance to the national semifinal in Fort Worth, Texas on April 13.
In the meet, the Gym Devils will start on floor, Cal on vault, Florida on bars and Michigan State on beam.
The Gym Devils advanced to the regional finals after scoring a 197.525 in the second session of the second round of regionals, which was the team's second-highest score of the year. It was also the second-highest postseason score in program history. ASU scored a 49-plus on all four events, including a season-high 49.475 on beam. That beam total was the eighth-highest in program history.
Senior Hannah Scharf tied for first for the Pittsburgh Regional beam title with a 9.950. That score tied her career high and set a new season high. She's the first Sun Devil to win a regional title since Cairo Leonard-Baker won the bars title in 2019. Scharf had a stand-out performance in the all-around, scoring a 39.625, which was the second-highest total between both sessions of the regional.
There are multiple Sun Devils in good position to advance to nationals should the team not qualify. The following scenarios are if ASU does not advance as a team:

There are multiple Sun Devils in good position to advance to nationals should the team not qualify. The following scenarios are if ASU does not advance as a team:
- In the all-around, if Florida advances, Hannah Scharf would qualify.
- On beam, if Florida and Michigan State advances, Emily White would qualify. If Michigan State does not advance and Florida does, then White would not qualify.
