LOS ANGELES - Sun Devil Men's Basketball will be the sixth seed in the Pac-12 tournament and face Oregon State after a 68-65 defeat on the road against the USC Trojans Saturday.
Arizona State (20-11, 11-9) finishes the regular season two spots higher than it was picked in the Pac-12 Preseason Poll, including wins against five of the top six teams in the Conference of Champions. The Maroon and Gold also have 10 wins away from home, more than 19 teams in the Associated Press's Top 25 Poll. ASU tied for fifth, but Washington State earned the tiebreaker with its victory over USC as both teams beat Arizona.
USC (22-9, 14-6) held the Sun Devils to 29% from the floor and 6-28 from three point range. Four of ASU's makes came from Horne. Warren Washington had his second double-double of the season, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds. In both of his double-doubles, Washington has had more rebounds than points.
He was joined by Devan Cambridge, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds. It was his third of the season.
After trailing by nine - 29-20 - at the half and having the lead balloon to as many as 14 with 6:23 left, the Sun Devils finished the game on a 20-9 scoring edge and had a chance to force overtime at the buzzer.
DJ Horne paced the Sun Devil offense with 20 points, his third time this season with at least 20 points and the eighth time this season he has had 20.
