BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 9 Sun Devil Water Polo (6-6) opens Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference play on the road at the California Golden Bears (12-3) for a matinee matchup on Saturday, March 4. The game is slated to start at 1:00 pm MST and will be streamed via California's broadcast, and 6-8 live stats will be available via Sun Devil Water Polo's Linktree, here.
The Sun Devils come off of a 1-3 weekend at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational with the opening win against No. 11 Indiana, holding the Hoosiers to their lowest goal total in nearly a year. Juliette Dhalluin led the Sun Devils with 10 goals over four games, including back-to-back 3+ goal games to close out the Invitational.
California on the other hand boasted a 3-1 record on the weekend, and their final victory over UCLA moved them into the No. 3 spot in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Week 7 polls.
ASU is no stranger to California, and has already seen the Golden Bears once this season taking a 3-15 loss to Cal in the Stanford Invitational. The all time matchup leans in Cal's favor with the 28-8 edge over ASU.
The last Sun Devil victory came in upset fashion with the 12-8 decision in April 2021 in the MPSF Conference Championship Tournament. That victory was the season difference maker and ultimately sent ASU to the NCAA Tournament.
