TEMPE -- The Arizona State ice hockey team (15-20-0) heads up North looking to add a couple wins to its record against familiar foe Alaska Anchorage (5-18-0) this weekend, March 3-4. The games are scheduled to commence at 9:07 p.m. MST on Friday and 7:07 p.m. MST on Saturday. The games are viewable for free on the UAA Seawolves Youtube channel.

The Seawolves are a familiar face for the Sun Devils and the two teams faced off earlier in the season on Nov. 11-12 at Mullett Arena. The Sun Devils won both of those games, including a 3-0 shutout contributing to ASU goaltender TJ Semptimphelter's five shutouts this season. This weekend marks the sixth and seventh time that these teams competed throughout ASU's history. ASU is on a four-game winning streak against UAA and looks to extend the streak to six after the weekend.

HISTORY vs. ALASKA ANCHORAGE (4-1-0):

W, 5-2 - Nov. 11, 2022
W, 5-2 - Feb. 15, 2020
W, 5-0 - Feb. 14, 2020
L, 2-3 - Oct. 9, 2015
Anchorage is the first-ever team that ASU played against in its NCAA Division I season debut. The Sun Devils lost that meeting, 3-2, but still made history scoring their first two NCAA Division I competition goals. This season is Alaska Anchorage's first back after the program was dissolved during COVID. UAA has notched several significant wins this season, including against Western Michigan (3-1), Northern Michigan (3-1), and Long Island (4-0).
The Sun Devils will face former teammate and defenseman Carson Kosobud. He's tallied one goal and two assists so far this season for the Seawolves.

THE HOMETOWN KID
Josh Doan is riding a hot streak for the Sun Devils in the last month, posting five straight games with at least one point, including five goals and two assists, and six goals in the last seven games. The team leading goalscorer has tied his freshman year goal tally at 12 with four games left to play. Last week against the Nanooks he chalked up two power play goals while the last time he faced off against the Seawolves in November, he added a goal and two assists.

PENALTY KILLERZ
Riding a five penalty-kill streak the Sun Devils have proven they can stand resilient against the toughest of circumstances. The unit ranks among the top-five in the nation with a .857 kill percentage. Earlier in the season, ASU achieved the second longest penalty kill streak in its program history, set at 21 straight that lasted for more than a month. In both games against the Seawolves in November, the Sun Devils were able to withstand their power play unit resulting in a sweep.
