TEMPE – No. 14 Sun Devil Gymnastics will be in the first session of the 2023 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships this Saturday at 12 p.m. MST/1 p.m. MDT at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, which will also include No. 19 Stanford, Washington and Arizona.

The champion will be determined by the team with the best score between both sessions, and individual champions can come from either session as well. In the afternoon session, Arizona State has a 2-1 record against the three others, the lone loss coming against Stanford early in the season.

Both the first and second session of Pac-12s will be on the Pac-12 Network. Live scoring will be available as well. For updates, follow along on Twitter (@SunDevilGym) and Instagram (@sundevilgymnastics).

Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (7-6, 4-3 Pac-12)
  • The team had a stumble at No. 1 Oklahoma last weekend, scoring a 195.925. However, ASU did have a season-high 49.400 on vault. Sophomore Alex Theodorou matched her career-high with a 9.925 on the event, followed by 9.9s from Anaya Smith and Hannah Scharf.
  • Heading into the postseason, the Gym Devils have a team NQS of 197.105 and a season high score of 197.725. Pac-12s is the last chance to add another score to increase the NQS before the selection show on March 20.
  • ASU went on an eight-meet streak of scoring 196.000 or better throughout the regular season. This also included a three-meet winning streak where the Gym Devils upset then-No. 4 Utah, set a program record road score in a win over Washington, and dealt then-No. 11 Oregon State its first loss of the season.
  • As a team, ASU has seven scores of 9.95-plus, which is the most in a single season since 2006.
  • In her senior year, Hannah Scharf has had a stellar season and currently is ranked No. 16 in the all-around. She has two Pac-12 awards this season, earning Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks following standout performances in wins over Oregon State and against Washington and Utah. On floor, she is on a six-meet streak of reaching 9.900 or better. She has won 10 event titles this season, with four of those coming on floor.
  • Another Gym Devil to win a weekly award this season was junior Emily White, who also received a Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week honor. On beam, White has scored a 9.825 or better in all but one meet and has reached 9.9-plus in four meets. Then on floor, she has had a 9.875 or better in eight meets. She has seven event titles on the season, at least one in every event. Like Scharf, she has been in the all-around in every meet.
  • Several other Gym Devils have had strong seasons. Junior Anaya Smith has had a 9.900 in four-straight meets on vault and has five meets reaching that number or higher this year and has four event titles on vault. Junior Sarah Clark has yet to score below a 9.825 on bars and has four bars titles. Three others have earned event titles: junior Jada Mangahas has two on floor event titles, junior Cienna Samiley has one on bars and senior Jordyn Jaslow has one on floor.
