TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 9 Sun Devil Water Polo (6-7, 0-1) wraps up regular season non-conference play March 11-12 at Mona Plummer in the ASU Invitational. The weekend features three games against No. 16(T) Harvard (13-2, 1-1), RV Marist (9-6), and Salem(5-9)– which are the two of the three teams that competed in last season's ASU Invitational.
Saturday's doubleheader kicks off against Harvard at 10:30 am MST and is followed by the game against Salem at 2:30 pm MST. Both games will be streamed via Arizona State Live Stream 3. Sunday wraps up with ASU facing Marist at 9am MST, and the game is viewable via Arizona State Live Stream 2. All live stat links, watch links, and Invite information can be found on Sun Devil Water Polo's Linktree.
The Sun Devils come off of a gritty conference loss last weekend in Berkeley to the No. 3 California Golden Bears, where newcomers Juliette Dhalluin and Tina Doherty continued to shine. The duo each notched a hat trick in the loss, and were responsible for the 11 goal ASU effort, the third highest goals allowed by Cal all season.
Harvard, Salem, and Marist each played in Tempe last season, and the Sun Devils went 3-0 to defend their home pool against them. In the three games, the Sun Devils averaged over 17 goals per game, and recorded their fourth-most goals in program history in the 22-3 win over Salem on February 12, 2022.
These out of conference teams are a combined 0-9 against the Sun Devils all time, and have never won in Tempe, so the Sun Devils have a shot to continue dominance at home this weekend.
Harvard rides a six game win streak into the weekend while Salem has dropped the last three games. Marist was slated to compete in the Wolverine Invitational last weekend, but dropped out prior to competing meaning they have not played at all this month.
Updates for the weekend can be found via Linktree, here. Attendance is welcomed at the games, and admission is free at Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex.
