TEMPE– Arizona State's men's tennis team (3-2) successfully earned their revenge against the San Diego Toreros (3-2) Friday night at the Whiteman Tennis Center in a 5-2 victory. Jacob Bullard earned his fourth straight-set victory of the season in the win. ASU secured the doubles point early on, and clinched the victory with wins on courts three through six. ASU returns to the courts Sunday at 1:00 p.m. AZ to host Pepperdine. The first 100 fans Sunday get coffee and donuts from Starbucks.
The Sun Devils were able to take an early lead over the Toreros by winning the doubles matches on courts two and three. Max McKennon and Roi Ginat's No. 3 win came via a 7-6 (10) tiebreaker, while Constantinos Koshis/Nicola Cigna won 6-2 at No. 2.
Freshman Constantinos Koshis was able to secure his first collegiate victory of the spring season thanks to a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory on court No. 4, claiming the second point for the team. Jacob Bullard then picked up his eighth win of the season after cruising to a 6-2, 7-6 victory, making the score 3-0 ASU. Notably, all of his wins during the spring season have come in straight-sets so far.
Securing the victory for the Sun Devils was freshman Roi Ginat on court No. 5. He cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win to clinch the match in his fourth victory so far this spring season.
ASU and San Diego played the rest of the courts out. After clinching the victory, ASU succeeded in another match on court No. 6 where Nicola Cigna won 6-0, 2-6, 6-1, marking his first three-set win of the spring season.
