TEMPE – Sun Devil Water Polo announced its 2024 competition schedule on Tuesday, which features two home tournaments and three away tournaments. The team will face familiar foes throughout the year, including a tilt against 2023 NCAA Tournament participant UC Irvine in February and competing in the best water polo conference in the country.

The schedule features 13 home contests, an increase from ten home matches that took place in the 2023 season, as the remaining matches will take place on the road or at neutral site locations against the top California schools in collegiate Water Polo.

Similar to 2023, the Sun Devils open play by hosting their first of two tournaments on Jan. 20-21 in the Cross Conference Challenge featuring Salem, Wagner, LMU and Cal Lutheran. The season opener will consist of the Sun Devils taking on Cal Lutheran and Wagner on Jan. 20, then the following day compete against Loyola Marymount and Salem to cap-off the weekend. In 2023, ASU defeated Salem 24-5 last season. The maroon & gold will also meet Wagner for the first time since 2017, face off against LMU for the tenth time in program history holding a 7-2 all-time record and meet the Regals of Cal Lutheran for the first time since 2009.

After a week off, the Sun Devils will travel to California to compete in the Triton Invite hosted by UC San Diego on Feb. 2-4. Then return home to host the ASU Invitational on Feb. 9-11 which the team will kickoff facing UC-Santa Barbara at 1 p.m. Then on Feburary 10, take on Marist and San Jose State in a non-conference matchup, then round-out the weekend against NAIA national champion Ottawa on February 11th.

The next three competitions the Sun Devils will spend their time in California, starting on Feb.17 the maroon & gold will take on MPSF rival UCLA at 12 p.m. MST and Cal State Fullerton at 4 p.m. MST. The following weekend ASU will compete at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational hosted by UC Irvine on Feb. 23-25. Then their three-week excursion will be at the Convergence Tournament hosted by Pomona Pitzer in Claremont, California taking place on March 1-2.

After spending a month on the road, the team returns to Tempe hosting Harvard at 10:30 a.m on March 9. After the match the team will be hosting Sun Devil alumni from the program's past with an alumni game at 12:30 p.m following the match. The Sun Devils will look to avenge last year's overtime result over the Crimson.

After a week off from competition, the Sun Devils will return to conference play with a battle against the reigning national champions, Stanford at The Farm which is slated to start that 1 p.m. AZT on March 23rd, then the following day they'll take on MPSF conference rival San Jose State on March 24th. The Sun Devils went a perfect 3-0 against the Spartans last season and have won nine straight matches against the in-conference rival.

The final three conference games will take place in Tempe, hosting California at 12 p.m. on March 30 along with a match-up against Ottawa that same day taking place at 3 p.m. The next week the Maroon & Gold will welcome Indiana on April 6th at 1 p.m. and capping off the regular season by celebrating the seniors in a match-up against national runner-up USC on April 13th at 1 p.m.

The Sun Devils will then make the trek to the Midwest to compete in the MPSF Tournament set for April 26-28 hosted by Indiana University.
