TEMPE - Sun Devil Soccer (10-6-4) will play its first match of the postseason against No. 7 seed Santa Clara (13-4-2) on Saturday at 2 p.m. MST in Northern California. The match will be available to stream on ESPN+ and kick off a  second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Women's Soccer National Championship field of 64 for the Sun Devils.

ASU enters the postseason push following four straight defeats, with the most recent coming from a 2-1 loss to the state rival, Arizona, on Friday night. The match against the Wildcats saw all three goals scored in a 10-minute span. While the Sun Devils could not record additional goals, they held the advantages in shots (12-10), shots on goal (6-4) and corner kicks (10-4).

Despite the recent losses, the Sun Devils tied for fifth in the Pac-12 at 5-5-1. In program history, this will be the 10th trip to the National Tournament and the third in the past four seasons. The program holds a 5-10-1 record in the tournament.

Santa Clara is coming off a pair of wins from last weekend. In Wednesday's match against San Diego, the Broncos notched a goal in just the fifth minute of the match and again in the 31st minute from a penalty kick for a 2-0 win. The following match saw a 1-0 win over Portland, where Santa Clara scored the lone goal in the 41st minute to close out their regular season.

The Broncos head into the tournament at 13-4-2 overall, and they tied for second in the WCC with a 6-2 record. This will be their ninth consecutive appearance in the National Tournament and 33rd in program history.

ASU is winless in four games against Santa Clara, with two of those coming in the NCAA Tournament. The teams last played in 2007 when the Broncos defeated the Sun Devils 1-0 in the only meeting in Tempe. Santa Clara earned a 5-1 win in the 2002 tournament and a 1-0 win in the 2003 tournament.

After finishing their final season in the Pac-12, Sun Devil players Lieske Carleer, Enasia Colon, and Pauline Nelles were each named Pac-12 Women's Soccer Second Team All-Conference on Tuesday. Along with this award, Colon finished fourth in the Pac-12 points standings with her 22 on the season. Nelles ended third with her 0.85 GA average and fourth for saves (80) and goals-against (17).

The Sun Devils will be making tournament appearances in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2009 and 2010 and only the third time in program history. This is also their third trip to the postseason in the past four seasons. ASU is 5-3-1 in the first round of the tournament all-time.
