#18 Volleyball Brings in #6 Oregon, OSU for Final Home Matches

TEMPE – No. 18 Sun Devil Volleyball will play their final home matches this weekend when they welcome No. 6 Oregon on Friday and Oregon State on Sunday at Desert Financial Arena. 

Fan Information
Friday's top-20 matchup against Oregon will begin at 6 p.m. MST. Fans are encouraged to wear maroon for a Maroon Monsoon against the Ducks.

Senior Day will take place on Sunday against Oregon State at 12 p.m. MST. The six being honored are Meadow Cooper, Marta Levinska, Maddie McLaughlin, Roberta Rabelo, Jaden Ravnsborg and Shannon Shields.

Traffic could be busy for both matches as Sun Devil Hockey plays around the same time as our matches each day. Additionally, the Arizona Ironman is on Sunday and will cause road closures near campus. Sun Devil Outlook
No. 18 Arizona State (24-4, 12-4 Pac-12)

• The Sun Devils improved to 24-4 after collecting wins against Colorado and Utah at home last weekend. ASU beat Colorado in four sets and went on to sweep Utah. The current win total of 24 is the most wins this century for the Sun Devils and is third-most all-time. ASU also remains undefeated at home with a record of 8-0. 
• ASU is now at 12-4 on the season in conference play, the fourth-most conference wins all-time. The most ASU has ever had is 13 (1993, 1986, 1975). This is the 10th season with double-digit conference wins.
• The Sun Devils got their 17th sweep of the season against the Utes, the most in a single season in program history. The previous high was 15 in 2013. 
• The Sun Devils moved to No. 18 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. They are ranked for the eighth week in a row. JJ Van Niel is just the second first-year head coach at ASU to have a ranked team, the other being Debbie Brown in 1983. Her team was ranked for 11 weeks and got as high as No. 13. In the RPI rankings, the Sun Devils moved up to No. 17. They are the fourth-highest Pac-12 team, behind Stanford, Oregon and Washington State.
• Senior opposite Marta Levinska was a force this past weekend, earning her fourth Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week nod for her efforts. She collected 25 kills against Colorado and 21 kills against Utah. It was her third match in a row with 20 plus kills as well as hitting over .400 in each of those matches. She has been able to hit over .400 for 11 matches so far this season. 
• Graduate libero Mary Shroll recorded her sixth-straight match where she reached double-digit digs. She logged 10 digs against Colorado and 14 digs against Utah. She currently leads the team in digs and aces. 
• Graduate setter Shannon Shields helped boost the Sun Devil offense with 46 assists against Colorado and 30 assists against Utah. She ranks 35th for assists per set in the nation (10.37), third in the Pac-12. She sits at 985 assists for the season. 

Opponent Outlook
No. 6 Oregon (22-5, 12-4 Pac-12)

• Last weekend, Oregon split their matches against Stanford and Cal, collecting a 3-2 loss against the Cardinal and a 3-2 win against the Bears. 
• The last time the Sun Devils faced off against the Ducks earlier this season, Arizona State swept the former ranked No. 5 team. It was their fifth win over a top-five opponent in program history. ASU's last home win over Oregon came back in the spring 2020-21 season, winning in five. The last time Arizona State won the season series over Oregon was in 2019.

Oregon State (10-16, 5-11 Pac-12)

• The Beavers also split their series against the Cardinal and the Bears. Oregon State won 3-1 over Cal and collected a 3-1 loss against Stanford. 
• ASU traveled to Oregon State last month where they fell 3-2 in a weekend split where they went on to sweep Oregon. The Sun Devils have won their last two home matches against the Beavers.
