Five Compete on Day One of the Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE– Five teams are visiting the Sun Devils this weekend at the Whiteman Tennis Center as Arizona State hosts its annual Thunderbird Invitational.
 
Five Sun Devils were in action today as Patricija Spaka, Rachel Hanford, Natasha Hill, Giulia Morlet and Sara Svetac all competed today.
 
The Sun Devils started off the morning winning both of their doubles as Spaka and Hanford edged a Michigan duo and Morlet and Svetac picked up a win against a Cal pair.

Spaka/Hanford (ASU) def. Jones/Miller (Michigan) 6-4
Morlet/Svetac (ASU) def. Passola Folch/Schomburg (Cal) 7-5
Guichard/Jovic (UCLA) def. Thiel/Mi (Cal) 6-4
Wagle/Lutkemeyer (UCLA) defeated Charney/Mesochoritou (Michigan) 7-5 
 
In the afternoon singles session, Morlet and Svetac picked up singles wins over their Michigan opponents while Spaka and Hanford fell to their UCLA opponents. Hill competed in a bonus singles match where she came up short to a Cal opponent.
