It is no secret that being a student athlete requires immense dedication, time, and effort. In recognition of some of the great accomplishments and achievements that Sun Devil student athletes received during their collegiate careers at Arizona State, ASU proudly hosted its annual Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Luncheon, hosted by legendary ASU broadcaster Tim Healey where they honored this years inductees: Jordan Clarke, Jason Kipnis, Shaun McDonald, Addison (McGrath) Brown, Regina (Stahl) Mannix and the 2007 Sun Devil Women's Track Team along with Hall of Distinction inductee Greg Kraft. Held on October 7, 2023, ASU was able to showcase these amazing athletes and all they accomplished while at Arizona State.

In 1975, Arizona State University established the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame which would honor Arizona State University's most distinguished student athletes. In 1982, ASU established the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Distinction to recognize the outstanding contributions that are made by ASU coaches and athletics administrators.

JORDAN CLARKE/MEN'S TRACK
Jordan Clarke from 2008-13 won won four NCAA titles, three in outdoor shot put and one in indoor shot put. He received five conference titles and was an eight time All-American. He was also awarded first Team All-American selection six times. Clarke on Track and Field throws coach David Dumble.
"The impact you have had on me in eight years together goes far beyond the track. You've made an immense impact on my professional life, the communication skills that I have, [and] the way I coach and lead others is fundamentally from what you have taught me. Thank you for taking a chance on a small town kind of kid from Alaska and making such an impact on my life."
   JASON KIPNIS/BASEBALL
Jason Kipnis was inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame for his contributions from 2008-2009. Kipnis held a .378 batting average over two seasons, along with 30 home runs, 144 RBIs, a .996 fielding percentage, and 51 stolen bases. His .688 slugging percentage is fourth highest in school history. He was also named the Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2009.  Kipnis on applying to Arizona State University.
"I sent [application] to Arizona State as a joke. I never for once thought I had a chance to come here. I knew all about their program and the history that has gone on here from (Dustin) Pedroia, Barry Bonds, Reggie [Jackson]… all these guys, I look up to them. That email turned into a phone call. The phone call turned into a book scholarship, and that book scholarship, fast forward years, now into the Hall of Fame."

SHAUN MCDONALD/FOOTBALL
Shaun McDonald is being inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame for his contributions to Sun Devil Football from 2000-2002. He also ended the season with 13 touchdown catches which is the second highest in program history. McDonald is the only Sun Devil to catch four touchdown passes in a game, and he completed this feat twice. McDonald on watching his brother play football.
"I wasn't a football player, but I watched his highlight film and his game tape. My mom used to film us all playing, so I used to watch film growing up, everyday pretty much… I feel like I learned how to play the position of wide receiver and play football from him… When I think about me playing football, when I am out there playing, I feel like when the ball was coming I would always envision what he would do and I would do the same thing to make a catch."

ADDISON (McGRATH) BROWN/WATER POLO
Addison (McGrath) Brown is being inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame for her contributions to Sun Devil Women's Water Polo from 2006-2009. She holds the single season scoring record with 123 points. She also was a three time All-American selection. Brown on being a Sun Devil.
"For me, being a Sun Devil is more than just athletics, it was this huge stepping stone into propelling my future. My athletic career ended, literally the day I ended college, not because I didn't have the opportunity but because I was ready to take everything I had learned from all the great coaches and teammates and administration… This slow-swimming, sandbagging water polo player came out of this school—ASU—came out a Sun Devil, ready to take on anyone and everything because the Sun Devil Family built me up and made me believe in myself."

?? On Friday, Addison McGrath (06'-09') will be the first athlete from Sun Devil Water Polo to be inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame! She's a three-time All-American and is the only Sun Devil to surpass 300 career points! ??#ForksUp /// #O2V /// #SunDevil4Life pic.twitter.com/tsD6ZFpJKg

REGINA (STAHL) MANNIX/VOLLEYBALL
Regina (Stahl) Mannix is being inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame for her contributions to Sun Devil Volleyball from 1984-1987. She is one of only seven players in program history with an All-American selection. Mannix on graduating from ASU.
"I graduated ASU a complete person, not just an athlete, and I have been the head coach Scottsdale Community College for thirty years. We have had a lot of success. I get asked often why do I coach, and I answer it the same every time. I feel compelled to give back at least some of what I was given. Debbie Brown saved me, and she taught me to thrive, and I hope I have been able to do that for some of my athletes."

2007 WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
The 2007 Sun Devil Women's Track and Field Team is being inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame for their outstanding achievement as a collective in the 2007 season. They won their first ever National Title, which ASU had beaten runner-up LSU. Six Sun Devils were awarded All-American selections. They were the third women's track and field program to win outdoor and indoor team titles in the same year in NCAA history. Sarah (Stevens) Walker on choosing ASU...
"There was a culture of excellence [at ASU]. I chose Arizona State because I wanted to be the best, and I believed Arizona State wanted to be the best. I believed what Coach Kraft told me on my recruiting visit, and what Don Bocchi told me on my recruiting visit, and what Dave Dumble told me every conversation I had during my recruiting process, was that Arizona State wanted to be the best and they wanted athletes that wanted to be the best."
GREG KRAFT/TRACK AND FIELD
Greg Kraft is being inducted into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Distinction for his contributions to Sun Devil Track and Field as a coach from 1996-2019. Kraft is a four time National Coach of the Year, and three time Pac-12 Coach of the Year. In thirteen of his last sixteen years as an ASU head coach, at least one Sun Devil won an NCAA Individual Title. Kraft coached student athletes to 38 National Titles, earned 21 Olympic berths and took home more than 300 All-American honors. Kraft on Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson...
"We were touring the facilities when he first came here and he asked me, 'Where's your locker room?' And I said, 'Well, we don't have one. All those ladies competed in men, we never had a locker room.' And he looked at me and he goes, with disgust, he shakes his head and goes, 'I'm going to fix that.' And he signed an adidas deal and got a little pot of money, and before you know it, our student athletes, for the first time in my career, had a home. They had their own locker room, and Ray has been supportive of all Olympic sports and that's very unusual in this day and age. So, I want to thank Ray for all the support of our athletic department."

We're so excited to celebrate our new ASU Hall of Fame inductees, today!
