NEWMARKET-ON-FERGUS, Ireland - Sun Devil Women's Golf sophomore Beth Coulter will participate in the KPMG Women's Irish Open at Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club from Aug. 31 - Sept. 3.

Coulter returns home to Ireland, as the Ardkeen native will make her debut at the professional level just one hour West of her hometown. The KPMG Women's Irish Open is part of the Ladies European Tour (LET), as Coulter will get a chance to test her skills against the top rising talent in the sport.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for Beth," Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "She is a wonderful representative of Ireland and this experience will help only her during the collegiate season."

Coulter will tee-off at 8 AM local time (12 AM AZT) in the featured group on the first tee, receiving the honor of opening the tournament. A full leaderboard for the event can be found here. Europe's Sky Sports and SkySports.com will have coverage of all four rounds. Coulter is one of only seven amateurs from Ireland to earn the opportunity to play on her home turf. Coulter's appearance continues a tradition of Sun Devils getting professional experience while still a part of the program in Tempe.

PRO DEVILS
The current Sun Devil will be joined by several professional Sun Devils at the KPMG Women's Irish Open. Olivia Mehaffey, Alessandra Fanali, and Alexandra Forsterling are all in the field in addition to Coulter.
Fanali and Forsterling are in the midst of successful rookie campaigns on the LET. Fanali is fifth in the Rookie of the Year standings having played in 11 events, while Forsterling is right behind in 6th. Ireland natives Mehaffey and Coulter will be fan favorites with the event taking place at Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club in Newmarket-on-Fergus.

ACTIVE OFFSEASON
The end of 2022-23 season did not stop Beth Coulter from competing, as she stayed busy when returning to Ireland this summer. She finished second at both the Irish Women's & Girls Open Stroke Play Championship and Irish Women's Close Championship. Coulter built on that with a fifth place finish at The Women's Amateur Championship followed by earning eighth place at the European Ladies' Amateur Championship. She also competed at the European Ladies' Team Championship, the Vagliano Trophy, and the Patsy Hankins Trophy as a representative of Ireland.

DELIGHTFUL DEBUT
  • Coulter teamed up with Paula Schulz-Hanssen to form one of the most successful freshman duos in the country.
  • One of only four freshman to receive Pac-12 All-Conference distinction.
  • Finished the season ranked No. 83 in the country by Golfstat and No. 84 according to Golfweek.
  • Three rounds in the 60s and seven total rounds under par.
  • Enjoyed a breakout performance at the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship, finishing in second place.
    • Ended the Pac-12 Championship with back-to-back rounds under par, including a 68 (-4) in the final round to move up the leaderboard.
    • She is the program's highest finisher since Olivia Mehaffey won the 2019 Pac-12 Championship in a playoff.
    •  The program continues an incredible streak dating back to 2001. ASU has now had a Top-5 finisher in 20 of the last 21 Pac-12 Championships and an individual land in the Top-10 at each of the last 21 conference championships.
    • Coulter is the highest-finishing Sun Devil freshman since Linnea Strom won the 2016 Pac-12 Championship in her first appearance.
    • She matches what 2023 Pac-12 Individual Champion Rose Zhang did last year on her way to the 2022 NCAA Individual Title, finishing second as a freshmen in her postseason debut.
    • Coulter's final round of 68 was one of five rounds out of the entire field to be in the 60's.
  • Finished tied for 11th at the PING/ASU Invitational behind the strength of a 70 (-2) in the second round.
  • Earned a second-straight Top-15 finish when she tied for 11th at the Match in the Desert after shooting a 70 (-2).
  • Started off the Pac-12 Preview with a 68 (-5), contributing to the lowest team score vs. par over 18 holes in program history.
    • Finished the Pac-12 Preview tied for 15th thanks to a 72 (-1) in the final round.
  • Wasted no time proving she belonged at the highest level of collegiate golf, shooting a 68 (-4) in her second round as a Sun Devil.
PRIOR TO ASU
  • The No. 7 recruit in the country, Coulter was one of two signees ranked in the Top-10 of the class.
  • Finished second in the 2022 Irish Women's Open Stroke Play Championship.
  • Won the 2022 Irish Girls Close Championship
  • Became the first Irish player since 1980 to reach the final of the R&A Girls Championship, where she finished runner-up in 2022.
2023-24 SCHEDULE
Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye announced the 2023-24 Sun Devil Women's Golf schedule. Arizona State will be tested throughout the campaign as Coach Farr-Kaye built one of the nation's toughest slates once again. The Maroon and Gold will compete in a total of nine regular season events, four in the Fall and five in the Spring. The postseason begins April 21 at the Pac-12 Championship, with NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships scheduled for the month of May.

SUPER SIX
Arizona State will have the luxury of having six returners on the roster, one of the highest totals in the recent history of the program. A young team finished No. 14 in the nation last season and has even higher goals this year. Senior Ashley Menne leads the way, coming back to Tempe with a chance to become a four-time All-American. Juniors Grace Summerhays and Calynne Rosholt each have already earned First Team Pac-12 All-Conference honors in their careers. Sophomores Beth Coulter and Paula Schulz-Hanssen are looking to build off of excellent debut seasons in the Maroon & Gold. Redshirt freshman Patience Rhodes enjoyed a successful summer and is expected to be a factor in qualifying.
