Kós became the first swimmer from Hungary to win this event since 1975 and his time is a Hungarian record. Kós also set a record for his home country in the 100m back as he swam a 53.12 earlier this week.
In his freshman season, Kós was third in the 200m back at the NCAA Championships and fourth at Pac-12s helping the Sun Devil Men win their first conference title in program history. His first win as a Sun Devil came in this event as well in the regular season finale against Arizona on Feb. 4. Prior to ASU, Kós won the gold medal in the 200 IM at the 2022 European Championships in Rome.
Here's what Twitter had to say following Kós winning the championship in the 200 back.
