Hat Trick! Léon Marchand Wins Third World Championship of the Week

FUKUOKA, Japan-- Hat trick! In his third final of the week, Léon Marchand wins his third World championship as he won the 200 IM on Thursday evening in Fukuoka.

Marchand's time of 1:54.82 breaks a European record set in 2009 and is the third fastest time in history. He repeats at the world champ in this event and he joins Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte as the third male swimmer to swim below a 1:55 in the 200 IM.

Thursday's gold medal is the sixth medal at Worlds for Marchand after repeating as the 400 IM world champ in a world record breaking time on Sunday and going for the gold in the 200 fly yesterday.
