FUKUOKA, Japan – Competition has begun at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships with current Sun Devil Dylan Gravley competing for the U.S. and alum Anna Olasz competing for Hungary in the Open Water Championships at Seaside Momochi Beach Park.

Gravley competed in the men's 5k where he finished with a time of 57:20 as he finished in the top-30. This is Gravley's second year in a row competing at Worlds where he competed in the 10k in Budapest and finished 13th.

In the first distance event at Worlds, Olasz finished 12th in the women's 10k with a time of 2:03:16.90 as she represented her home country Hungary and later won the silver medal in the team relay. Olasz, a 2017 graduate, capped off her senior season with the Sun Devils in 2016-17 with three top-2 finishes in the 1000 free. At Worlds last year, she represented Hungary in the team relay that won the silver medal and medaled in the 25k competition in 2015.

Competition in the pool will begin for more current Sun Devils, alum and pros on Saturday, July 23.
