MEN'S SWIMMING (2ND PLACE / 90 POINTS)
Men's swimming put a stamp on their incredible 2022-23 season by finishing second at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center to secure the best national finish in school history. The Sun Devils had previously never finished better than sixth at the national championships. Their two best showings, both sixth-place efforts, came in 1982 and 2022. They scored just 236 points at last year's championship, a number they cleared after the 10th event this week. Léon Marchand took the 200 breast in NCAA record-setting time of 1:46.91, breaking his own mark of 1:47.67 that he set at the Pac-12 Championships. Marchand won the 200 IM, 200 breast and 400 IM this week in Minneapolis, setting new NCAA records in each event. The Sun Devils stormed to their first Pac-12 Championship in program history in early March, where they won nine races, broke eight school records and never once let go of their clutch of first place. It snapped a streak of five consecutive conference titles won by the Cal Golden Bears. In December, the Sun Devils earned the No. 1 ranking in the country by the CSCAA for the first time in school history. They steamrolled their way through the early months of 2023, taking down No. 12 Stanford, No. 2 Cal and No. 19 Arizona in a two-week span. They carried that momentum into March, where they compiled the greatest postseason stretch in school history. Marchand earned Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year and CSCAA Division I Swimmer of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. Jonny Kulow was named the conference's Freshman of the Year, becoming the fourth Sun Devil of the Bob Bowman era to win the award.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (5TH / 75 POINTS)
Dion Miller's Sun Devils had one of the best track and field seasons in over a decade in 2023. The outdoor season saw ASU earn 10 All-Americans, a pair of Pac-12 titles, four program records, 19 program record updates, and a near NCAA 4x400 record. Turner Washington earned his fifth NCAA title and became a nine-time All-American; the men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads both ran program records at the NCAA Championships - the 4x400 time being the No. 3 time in NCAA history; Christina Warren broke the program triple jump record in back-to-back meets; and Adriana Tatum and Jeremiah Curry both shattered ASU's men's and women's 200m records. The Sun Devils celebrated the men's 4x400 relay and high jumper Grace Campbell earning gold medals at the Pac-12 Championships, with seven total medals being earned at the conference championships.

MEN'S GOLF (5TH / 72.75 POINTS)
The Sun Devil men's golf team under seventh-year head coach and GCAA 2022-23 West Region Coach of the Year Matt Thurmond advanced to NCAA championship match play for the third straight season, finished third in the Golfstat rankings, won its Thunderbird Invitational and the Las Vegas Regional while sophomore Preston Summerhays earned first-team All-America honors. ASU did all that with just one returning starter (Summerhays) from its 2022 NCAA semifinalist lineup and had two freshmen in the lineup most of the year. Arizona State posted a 143-27-3 head-to-head record on the season (per Golfweek), and had the most wins of any team against both top 25 (68-26-3) and top 50 (104-27-3) foes. ASU's schedule was second-best in nation, behind only Texas.

WRESTLING (SEVENTH PLACE / 72 POINTS)
ASU finished seventh overall at the NCAA Championships in Tulsa. It had four All-Americans and a pair of top-three finishers. Brandon Courtney and Michael McGee finished third at 125 and133, respectively, while 149 Kyle Parco finished fourth and HWT Cohlton Schultz finished seventh. It's the first time a pair of Sun Devils have finished top three since 2017 when Zahid Valencia and Tanner Hall both took third, the fourth consecutive season ASU has celebrated at least four All-Americans, and the seventh time in program history ASU has finished with four All-Americans. ASU has now finished in the top-10 21 times. Courtney, McGee, Parco and Schultz all earned All-America honors. Parco, McGee and Schultz are all now three-time All-Americans, while Courtney is a four-time All-American. In ASU's history there's now been 15 three-time All-Americans and just five four-time AAs.

WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS (NCAA REGIONAL APPEARANCE 13TH PLACE/ 60.80 POINTS)
Sun Devil Gymnastics ended the 2023 regular season with a 7-6 record, finishing up the season ranked No. 15 on Road to Nationals in head coach Jay Santos' seventh season. This is the sixth year in a row that the Gym Devils finished the season ranked in the top-25. Earning a team NQS of 197.105, this is the third time ever that ASU ended the regular season with an NQS over 197, two of which have been while Santos has been in Tempe. Seeded for the third season in a row for the postseason, the Sun Devils advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals for the second time in three years. The best score of the season came against a victory over No. 11 Oregon State. The team scored a 197.725, the ninth-highest score in ASU history. The team had an eight-meet streak of scoring 196.000 or better throughout the regular season. That run included a three-meet winning streak where the Gym Devils upset then-No. 4 Utah, set a program record road score in a win over Washington, and dealt then-No. 11 Oregon State its first loss of the season. At the 2023 Pac-12 Championships, the Gym Devils took first in the first session with a 196.700, the program's third-highest score at a conference championship meet ever. As a team, Arizona State saw success due to the consistent performances from the individuals all season long. The Gym Devils won 30 event titles, led by senior Hannah Scharf with 11, four of which were in the all-around. Junior Emily White finished with seven, while juniors Anaya Smith and Sarah Clark had four each. Scharf continued her standout career as a Sun Devil, competing in the all-around in every meet and ending the season ranked No. 21 in the nation in the all-around. She competed as an individual at the NCAA Championships in the all-around. At NCAA Regionals, she finished second in the second session in all-around with a 39.625 to send her to nationals, her fourth all-around total of 39.625-plus this season. Also at regionals, she took home the beam event title with a 9.950, matching her career high and setting a new season high. Her all-around career-high of 39.675 that she earned against Utah is tied for the 10th-best all-around mark in program history.

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (19TH PLACE / 54 POINTS)

Sun Devil Track and Field returned to Tempe with a pair of first-team All-Americans after the NCAA Indoor Championships. Turner Washington claimed his sixth NCAA medal with his third-place (bronze) finish in the shot put, while the men's 4x400 relay group of Jalen DraydenJeremiah CurryDubem Nwachukwu and Justin Robinson finished fourth to earn first-team honors. Charli Brown, Ieva Maluka, Iza Adame, Emma Gehlert, Katherine Randall, Indigo Armon, Izzy Krantzcke and Ginger McMahon were among the many underclassmen to make an impact this season, a sign that the Sun Devils have the foundation to continue growing in the coming years. The Sun Devils were terrific down the stretch to close out the regular season, in which they won three of their final four dual meets -- (Washington State, No. 11 Cal and Arizona). In the regular season finale for Sun Devil Swim & Dive, in which they recognized 13 seniors for Senior Day, the 123-point margin of victory by the Women is the largest over Arizona since at least 1998. Lindsay Looney became fourth women's swimmer of the Bob Bowman era to win at the Pac-12 Championships, where she won the 200 fly and 500 free. Weeks later, Looney became a First-Team All-American at the NCAA Championships by taking fourth in the 200 fly. She also placed 13th in the 500 free.

It marked only the fifth time since 1980-81 that ASU won 23 games. ASU reached the Pac-12 Tournament semifinal round for only the fourth time in program history, and had 13 wins away from home, seven in true road games and six at neutral sites during the 2022-23 season.
