PETER VANDER STOEP
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kylee Magee delivered a two-hit shutout, and Jazmyn Rollin hit two home runs as Sun Devil Softball opened its crucial three-game series at Oregon State with an 8-0 run-rule victory.

Arizona State (22-23, 6-16 Pac-12) scored once in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and then five times – with two outs – in the sixth to earn the win. Six different players recorded a hit, with five of the team's nine hits going for extra bases.

In the circle, Magee held Oregon State (13-28-1, 4-17-1 Pac-12) to two singles in recording her second career shutout.

NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT ONE ?? ?? @JazzyRollin hits her ninth bomb of the season to put the Sun Devils up by three! ??

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With nothing happening through the first three innings, ASU got on the board in the fourth when a two-out, pinch-hit single from Shannon Cunningham scored Alexa Milius.
  • OSU got its first hit in the bottom of the fourth, but Magee stranded a pair of runners to keep the Beavers scoreless.
  • Yanni Acuña drew a walk and stole a base in the fifth before Rollin homered to right center to expand the lead to 3-0.
  • The ASU sixth opened with consecutive outs before Savannah Price reached on an infield single. Kalyn McCarthy was then hit by a pitch, and the two came around to score on a double from Acuña.
  • Rollin followed with her second home run of the game, and then Jordyn VanHook went deep to right for back-to-back homers and an 8-0 lead.
  • The Beavers started the bottom of the fifth with a single and a walk before Magee forced a 1-5-3 double play and a pop-out to end the game.

NOTABLE
  • Rollin's second home run was the 40th of her career and 10th of the season.
  • It was the second career multi-home run game for Rollin, with her first coming at Oregon on April 8, 2022.
  • This was the third straight two-hit game for Rollin and her 13th of the season.
  • The four RBIs from Rollin tie her career high, now accomplished five times, with the last being on April 30, 2022, against Cal.
  • Milius had a hit for the third straight game and the fifth time in the last six contests.
  • Her two-hit game was her 10th multi-hit game of the season and first since April 8 at Utah.
  • The double from Milius in the second was her first since March 5 and just her second extra-base hit since March 26.
  • Acuña doubled in a pair of runs for her first multi-RBI game since April 8 at Utah.
  • She drew a pair of walks for the first time in a game since March 31. She has now reached base in six consecutive games.
  • With two runs scored, Acuña moved into seventh in program history with 152.
  • The pinch-hit single from Cunningham gives her seven on the season. She is now 7-for-17 (.412) as a pinch-hitter.
  • VanHook extended her conference lead with home run number 19. She moved into a tie for fifth in program history for single-season home runs, two shy of the program record.
  • She has now hit a homer in four of the past eight games after just one in the 16 games before that.
  • Magee finished with a career-best six innings pitched while allowing her fewest hits in a start (two).
  • It's her third straight start with at least five innings and the second straight allowing one run or less.
  • The first two-run home run from Rollin snapped a stretch of nine straight solo home runs from ASU hitters dating back to April 8 at Utah.
  • The win snapped the Sun Devils' 11-game losing streak, which was the longest since the 2016 team lost 12 straight.
  • With the day's results across the conference, ASU can clinch the No. 7 seed for the Pac-12 Tournament with two wins or one win and one U of A loss.

ANOTHER BOMB for @JazzyRollin ?? ??
