Preston Summerhays has been named to the 2023 Haskins Award Final Watch List, presented by Stifel, according to an announcement from the organization Monday.
 
Summerhays is one of 10 men's college golfers on the list for the prize of the best in the country. Voting for the 2023 Haskins Award will open on Monday, May 22nd. It will remain open until the completion of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship on Monday, May 29th. 
 
The 2023 Haskins Award presented by Stifel will be presented Tuesday, May 30th on Golf Channel, as teams are competing for a spot in the following day's national championship match.
 
"Our program has a great history with the Haskins Award and it's awesome to see Preston in the mix this year," said Head Coach Matt Thurmond. "He's had an awesome season."
 
Phil Mickelson won three straight Haskins Award's from 1990-93 and Billy Mayfair picked up the first honor in program history in 1987.

Summerhays became the 13th man in program history picked for the Palmer Cup, joining current teammate Josele Ballester and former teammate James Leow in 2022. He is the sixth individual Sun Devil under Thurmond in the Ryder Cup and seventh overall during his time at Arizona State.
 
He has one individual win this season as ASU's top golfer in the lineup, a home win at the Thunderbird Collegiate on April 15. Summerhays finished the tournament at 13-under (66-68-66=200/-13) and was one of two golfers in the field to shoot below a 70 in each of the three rounds in the tournament. Summerhays needed a mere 30-strokes on the back-nine of Sunday's third round.
 
For his efforts, he was named Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Week.
 
Summerhays is coming off a third-place finish at the 2023 Las Vegas Regional, where he was top six individually on each of par-3 (-1/T3), par-4 (-7/5) and par-5 (-11/T6) holes. He was tied for the fourth most birdies in the event with 19 and also had a dazzling three eagles at Bear's Best.
 
Sun Devil Men's Golf tees off the 2023 NCAA Championships at 11:52 a.m. Friday morning in a group with Stanford and Texas Tech from Grayhawk.
