TUCSON – No. 19/18 Sun Devil Baseball dropped a midweek contest against the Arizona Wildcats, 20-0, Wednesday night in Tucson.
Nu'u Contrades paced the Sun Devils (25-11, 11-3) with two hits, improving his career marks against Arizona (19-15, 6-12) to 9-for-16 (.562) in four games. Luke Keaschall also went 1-3 at the plate.
The Wildcats jumped on ASU southpaw Timmy Manning in a first-inning plagued by high-winds, tapping Manning for six runs. The Wildcats scored in all eight innings they hit and took a double-digit lead in the fourth. ASU totaled five hits and none after a single by Nick McLain in the fifth.
Arizona State looks towards a top-25 matchup at Phoenix Municipal Stadium Friday night with No. 21 Oregon State, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. MST.

After Wyatt Crenshaw led off the game with a hit by pitch, the Sun Devils were retired on two flyouts and a strikeout.
Timmy Manning surrendered the first run of the game after a double and RBI single on consecutive pitches. Chase Davis hit a two run home run on the following at-bat to increase the Sun Devil deficit to three. Manning struck out the next two batters after allowing a double, but the Wildcats put another one on the board with a two-run home run. He secured a ground-out to conclude the inning as the Sun Devils trailed by five.

Nu'u Contrades provided the Sun Devils first hit of the game with a one-out single, but a double-play two pitches later halted any potential momentum.
Matt Tieding entered the game to pitch, but the Wildcats mashed two more home runs in the inning, increasing the Sun Devils deficit to 9-0 just four outs into the game. Tieding retired the final two batters of the inning to avoid further damage.

After the first two Sun Devils were set down, Wyatt Crenshaw cranked a two-out double off the right field fence. ASU failed to take advantage of the runner in scoring position with a popup to the second baseman. Arizona scored one on a single, increasing their lead to 10-0. The Sun Devils loaded the bases with singles from Contrades and Keaschall, and a walk from Isaiah Jackson but couldn't take advantage, going scoreless for the fourth consecutive inning. Jonah Giblin entered the game to pitch and one more run crossed.

The Sun Devils put runners on first and second, but nothing came of it. Hansell recorded one out before Nolan Lebamoff to enter and the Wildcats plated four more in the inning, making it 15-0.
