ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Captain Josh Doan continues to shine bright with his second two-goal night to finish the weekend against the Seawolves with six points. Doan's offensive push wasn't enough to give the Arizona State ice hockey team (16-21-0) the sweep as Alaska Anchorage (7-19-0) won, 4-3, on Saturday night at the Seawolf Sports Complex.

Doan scored his two goals within 90 seconds midway through the third period to bring his season total count to 15. That mark places him in a tie with Willie Knierim for fifth place in ASU's record book for goals scored in a single season. Doan finished his freshman season with 12 goals.

The team's second-highest goal scorer is freshman Ryan Alexander with 11. The rookie also scored on both nights against UAA and finished the series with three points (2G, 1A). He's one goal away from tying Doan's freshman mark in the category held by Johnny Walker (17 goals, 2017-18) for most goals scored by a freshman.

Even though he hasn't found the back of the net lately, Robert Mastrosimone is riding a five-game point-scoring streak which includes nine assists. He earned five assists at UAA this weekend alone. Mastrosimone's 39 points this season brings him to third in ASU's single-season points record book.

Penalties were held to a minimum for both teams on Saturday night - each benefiting from two man-advantage opportunities. After a hot start on Friday with two ASU power play goals, the Seawolves' penalty kill unit held the Sun Devils' special teams unit from firing in the rematch. On the other end, ASU's No. 4 penalty kill in the country gave up one PPG in the third period of Saturday's contest.

TJ Semptimphelter made his 35th start this season, tying Joey Daccord's 2018-19 record for most starts by a goalie in a single season. Semptimphelter made 23 saves in the first and second periods. UAA put up only two shots in the final frame, but both resulted in goals for the Seawolves.

UP NEXT: The Sun Devils return to the desert for their season finale against the Long Island Sharks on March 10-11. Both games start at 7 p.m. MST but arrive early on Saturday to watch the Senior Night Ceremony.
