LOS ANGELES – On Friday afternoon, Sun Devil lacrosse (1-5, 0-1) were defeated by No. 18 USC (6-2, 1-0) 17-6 in their Pac-12 opener at Soni McAlister Field. 

Up next the Sun Devils will be back at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium on Friday, March 24 against Oregon at 3:00 p.m. broadcast on ASU Live Stream and Colorado on Sunday, March 26 at noon featured on Pac-12 Mountain.

  • The Sun Devils forced USC to take three yellow cards in the first half.
  • Mina Scott is four goals short of her career season high (10).
  • Kaylon Buckner continues to lead the Sun Devils in goals (13).
Both squads played hard defense for the first ten minutes before USC tallied their first goal of the game. With less than thirty seconds left in the first, Teagan Ng found Keeley Cleland in the slot as the freshman found the back of the net to put the game 3-1. On the endline, Teagan Ng juked her defender to snag the second Sun Devil goal of the day. Bella Ingrao tallied her third goal of the season off a free position shot to make the game 8-3, Trojans in the second quarter. The Sun Devils continued to chomp at the USC lead as open space allowed Mina Scott to find the back of the net. Scott's goal closed out the first half 9-4.

Berit Brookfield found Scott five meters out from goal where she spun past her defender to claim her second goal of the day. Captain Kaylon Buckner scored on her free position opportunity to cut the USC lead to 9-6. Buckner's goal would be the last of the game for the Sun Devils.
