TEMPE, Ariz. -- The No. 27 Sun Devil Women's Tennis team (11-2, 1-0) completed their three-match homestand by defeating the Pennsylvania Quakers (8-4), 6-1, backed by a strong doubles effort and steady singles play.

The doubles team of Patricija Spaka and Domenika Turkovic, who are ranked No. 11 by the ITA, breezed their way to victory on Court 1. The duo dominated their opponents to take the first doubles victory, 6-2. Sedona Gallagher and Rachel Hanford were not far behind on Court 2, taking the second win 6-2 to secure the doubles point. The Sun Devils have now taken the double point in 12 of 13 matches this season.

They clinched the win with three quick singles wins, via Rachel Hanford, Turkovic and Gallagher. Hanford made quick work of her opponent on Court 6, taking the first singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.

Turkovic battled with her opponent in their first set but ultimately came out victorious. She rode the momentum from the first set and handily defeated her opponent in the second, 6-1, to grow the the Sun Devil lead to 3-0.

Gallagher then clinched the win in commanding fashion for the Sun Devils by defeating her opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. 

Marianna Argyrokastriti battled in a close match on Court 3 and triumphed in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. The junior Agryrokastriti now leads the Sun Devils in wins with 12 on the season.

After losing the first set 6-7, Spaka fought her way back to take the win in the next set, 6-3. The match on Court 5 then went to a third-set tiebreaker, which Spaka won, 10-8.

Spaka and freshman Chelsea Fontenel on Court 1 were locked in simultaneous tiebreakers. Despite a valiant effort, the Sun Devils dropped Court 1.

The Sun Devils won all three matches of the homestand, beating No. 46 Baylor, No. 53 Oregon and Penn, and are now 11-2 on the season, including a perfect 10-0 at the Whiteman Tennis Center. Playing their finest tennis at home is something the Sun Devils have grown accustomed to seeing over the years.

UP NEXT
The Sun Devils hit the road for a four-match road trip -- all of which will be played against conference opponents. They will first head to Washington for a match against the Huskies on Friday, March 17, at 1:30 p.m. MST. The Sun Devils are 14-6 against the Huskies in their previous 20 meetings, which included a 10-match win streak from 2009-18.
