IRVINE, Calif. – No. 7(T) Sun Devil Water Polo (6-5) faced off against No. 15 UCSB, and couldn't pull out the win despite a four goal performance from freshman Juliette Dhalluin. The 6-7 loss drops ASU to 6-5 on the season, but the Sun Devils have the opportunity to place 7th in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational tomorrow where they will face No. 7(T) Long Beach State (9-4) at 10 am MST.

The first quarter was a relatively quiet one where the Sun Devils saw four shots and managed to draw two exclusions but couldn't capitalize on the man-up opportunities. UCSB scored the first goal of the game on a power play with under two minutes remaining to take a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
UCSB got on the board early in the second quarter for a 2-0 lead, but Juliette Dhalluin countered with a goal of her own 30 seconds later to pull ASU within one. Luca Petovary followed with a successful penalty shot that tied the game near the five minute mark of the second quarter. Two UCSB goals were looking like the final scoring, but a goal with 10 seconds on the clock from Dhalluin made it a 4-3 Sun Devil deficit at the half.
Just one minute into the third Zoe Frangieh was whistled for a penalty, and UCSB's lead ws back up to two after their successful attempt. The only other goal of the quarter was UCSB's with 3:42 remaining to give them a 6-3 lead after three.
Dhalluin notched two goals in the fourth quarter for goals three and four on the day. A penalty foul was called on UCSB with :03 remaining, and Petovary's second made penalty shot pulled ASU within one, but there was no time remaining.
