SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - 141 true freshman Emilio Ysaguirre (Eloy, Arizona) is this week's Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week following an unbelievable debut in the varsity lineup. Ysaguirre filled in against CSU Bakersfield and No. 2 Nebraska where he collected both a major decision and an upset over No. 4 Brock Hardy. This is ASU's fifth WOTW honor this year.
Ysaguirre made his dual debut Feb. 16 against Louie Ramos of CSU Bakersfield where Ysaguirre won in a 15-3 major decision while filling in for Jesse Vasquez. Ysaguirre then wrestled No. 4 Brock Hardy (Nebraska) where the Sun Devil upset Hardy 10-4 to sweep the weekend.
The Sun Devils finished the regular season 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the Pac-12. The Pac-12 Wrestling Championships are coming up March 5 and are hosted in Palo Alto, California, by Stanford. The NCAA Championships kick off March 16 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
