Sun Devil Outlook
No. 20 Arizona State (4-5, 1-3 Pac-12)
- This Monday, the Sun Devils will face No. 4 Utah. The past two meets have also been against top-10 opponents on the road: No. 7 Cal and No. 6 UCLA.
- In the rankings on Road to Nationals, ASU held steady in the team rankings and in three of the four event rankings. The team improved on vault, moving up to No. 20 from No. 23.
- The Gym Devils hit the 196.000 mark for the fifth-consecutive meet, posting a score of 196.900 last time out at No. 6 UCLA, a season high.
- ASU hit 49.000 or higher in all events last weekend, the second time in as many weeks that the Sun Devils have reached that mark in every rotation. On beam, it was the fifth-consecutive meet the Gym Devils reached a 49.000 or higher. It was also the third meet in a row where ASU has surpassed 49.000 on floor.
- The Gym Devils had five scores of 9.850 or better on bars, setting a new season high in the event with a 49.425. Junior Jada Mangahas led the way with a career high 9.925, the highest score in the event so far this year for the Sun Devils.
- Arizona State has had two all-around performers bring it week after week this season. Senior Hannah Scharf notched a 39.500, scoring at least a 9.850 on every event. On vault and floor, she has not scored below a 9.800. On the year, she has four scores of 9.9-plus, three of those coming on floor.
- Junior Emily White is the other all-arounder. Last week she had a 39.375, highlighted by a 9.900 on bars, matching her season high on that event. On bars and beam, she has yet to score below a 9.800. She has four scores of 9.9-plus this season.
No. 4 Utah (10-1, 3-0 Pac-12)
- Utah continues to be a powerhouse in gymnastics. The Utes' only loss this season came at No. 1 Oklahoma.
- The Utes remained the top team in the nation on beam for the fifth week in a row, while they rank No. 4 on vault, No. 6 on bars, and No. 7 on floor.
- The last time the Utes visited Tempe in 2021, The Gym Devils fought hard posting a 197.150 in a narrow defeat. ASU lost their road matchup last season in Utah. In 2022, ASU was co-regular season champs with Utah.
- In 2022, Utah was one of four teams to advance to the NCAA National Championship Finals, taking third.
