TEMPE – No. 20 Sun Devil Gymnastics will look to build upon last weekend's season-high road score with another away meet this Saturday afternoon at No. 6 UCLA.

Sun Devil Outlook 
No. 20 Arizona State (4-4, 1-2 Pac-12)
  • The Gym Devils are on the road again this weekend after traveling to No. 7 Cal in Berkeley last weekend. The week against UCLA is the second of three meets in a row against programs all currently ranked in the top 10. 
  • The team came in second in their meet against the Golden Bears on Saturday as the team hit 196.800 for the second meet in a row and was the fourth-consecutive meet reaching 196-plus. It was also the first meet where the Gym Devils scored a 49-plus in all four events.
  • On floor, ASU had its season high score with a 49.425. Senior Hannah Scharf matched her career high in the event with a 9.950 to win a share of the event title. In addition to Scharf's 9.950, Emily White tied her career high while also setting a season high with a 9.900 and Jada Mangahas also had a 9.900.
  • Junior Emily White won the first weekly award for ASU this week, being named the Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week. At Cal, she tied her season best in all-around with a 39.400. On floor, she tied her career high and set a new season high with a 9.900, which came a week after a fall on the same event. She also had a 9.850 on bars and a 9.800 on vault. Of her 20 routines this season, she has scored below a 9.800 just twice.
  • Scharf had her best meet of the season as her score on floor was the highest by a Gym Devil this season. On bars, she tied her career high and set a season high with a 9.900. She also matched her season high on vault with a 9.850 and notched a season-high 39.525 in all-around. Out of 20 routines so far this year, she has scored below a 9.800 just three times.
  • Mangahas continues to be a strong specialist for the Gym Devils. Last week, she tied her career high in bars with a 9.875, a season high for her, while also matching season highs on vault (9.800) and floor (9.900). On floor, she has not scored below a 9.800.
  • Also against Cal, junior Sarah Clark tied her season high on beam with a team high 9.875 and also had a 9.850 on floor and 9.825 on bars. In the five meets so far, she has been the anchor on bars and has yet to score below a 9.825.
Opponent Outlook
No. 6 UCLA (4-4-1, 1-2 Pac-12)
  • Last weekend, the Bruins came up short in a top-10 matchup at then-No. 6 Utah on Friday where they had their second-highest score of the season at 197.450.
  • UCLA enters Saturday's meet ranked No. 6 on Road to Nationals and are ranked in the top 10 on three events: No. 2 on floor, No. 5 on bars and No. 9 on vault.
  • Last season, the Gym Devils faced the Bruins in Tempe where they picked up their first win over UCLA since 2001 while also reaching the seventh-highest team score in program history. The Bruins finished last season ranked No. 12 on Road to Nationals, and had two individual competitors at the NCAA Championships. Returning sophomore Jordan Chiles earned All-America honors at nationals.
