TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devils cut its deficit to as few as four points before ultimately falling 80-67 to the Arizona Wildcats Sunday afternoon at Desert Financial Arena. Treasure Hunt led the team in scoring with a career-high with 24 points to go with her six rebounds. Tyi Skinner reached a career milestone, eclipsing 1,000 career points off a layup in the third quarter.
ASU fought with Arizona early in the game, tied 6-6 with just under five minutes left in the opening quarter before Arizona capitalized on an 8-0 run following the first media timeout. Treasure Hunt kept the Sun Devils within striking distance, scoring nine of the team's 16 first-quarter points.
Hunt's nine first-quarter points were the second-most by a Sun Devil in the first quarter and the most since Tyi Skinner (10), at New Mexico on Nov. 20, 2022.
The Sun Devils began the second quarter strong, shooting 3-of-4 from the field, including 2-of-2 from three. They ended the half on the wrong end of a 10-2 run in the final 2:58, trailing 43-31.
ASU responded with a 10-2 run of its own, eight of which came from Treasure Hunt in a 1:30 span. They cut the deficit to four with 6:17 remaining in the third quarter. Arizona came out of the timeout on an 11-3 run, extending its lead back to 12 and ended the quarter leading 62-48.
Tyi Skinner's and-one with 17.6 seconds left in the third quarter gave her 1,000 career points in the midst of her third collegiate season.
The Sun Devils fought their way back, tying a season-high with 22 free throws made, but couldn't overcome the 14-point deficit entering the fourth quarter.
Treasure Hunt set career-highs in points (24), free throws made, (10) and free throw percentage with a minimum of five shots (90%).

Opening Statement:
"We just talked about how proud we were of our effort and our fight. I felt like Jaddan and Treasure really showed up for us offensively but they sent the tone on just how hard. They flew around, their teammates fed off of their energy. From tip to final buzzer, you saw them fight. When you go up and down obviously the stat sheet a team like Arizona you can't give them 21 offensive rebounds, those second chance opportunities in a lot of ways were the difference. But where I am proud of our group, the first time they really exploited us inside and I thought we just dialed into scouting and some of the things we worked on. Making it hard for them to score around the rim, making them earn pretty much everything they got and then just how aggressive we were to the line. We were 22-for-29 and that's a team that is confident, playing downhill, putting foul pressure on and so there's so much for this group to build on and we are doing that and we are getting close. So again we're not gonna hang our heads, we're going to be proud of our effort, we're going to be proud of our fight because there's a lot of basketball to still be played."

On games slipping away:
"We're always going to play with who we have, so I don't think that's an excuse for us. But at the end, it does slip away but that's why we're learning, we're a young team, new players and all of that, so I think we just gotta figure how to get over that hump and I think we will be fine. It starts in practice, today it was the rebounding. They had a lot of second chance opportunities, so just limiting those and executing on offense and that's how you do it."
Arizona State Women's Basketball Guard Treasure Hunt
On career high and what this means:
"Without the team, I wouldn't be scoring. I mean everybody on our team scores at least, so if they're not scoring, I'm not scoring. We all need each other to score."
