SAN FRANCISCO - Sun Devil Men's Basketball's Desmond Cambridge Jr. was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced as part of their weekly performance awards.

Cambridge Jr. was instrumental in Arizona State's sweep of Oregon and Oregon State, winning Pac-12 Player of the Week for the second time this season. He previously took home the award after leading the Sun Devils to the Legends Classic Championship with victories over VCU and No. 20 Michigan. It is the seventh Player of the Week honor in his illustrious career (Ivy 4x, Pac-12 2x, Mountain West 1x).

Arizona State is off to a 15-3 start for the first time since the 2008-09 thanks in large part to the contributions of Cambridge Jr. The Sun Devils are also 6-1 in Pac-12 play for the first time since 1980-81, most recently sweeping the Oregon schools on the road behind the play of their fifth-year guard.

The Nashville native is the first Sun Devil to win Pac-12 Player of the Week twice in the same season since Remy Martin did it back in 2019. Cambridge Jr. joins Colorado guard KJ Simpson as the only two individuals to be named the conference's top player multiple times in 2022-23. Arizona State now has a total of three Pac-12 Player of the Week recipients so far this season, with Austin Nunez earning Freshman of the Week honors back in November. It is the 13th time a Sun Devil has won a Pac-12 Player of the Week award under Bobby Hurley.

Desmond Cambridge Jr. - Pac-12 Player of the Week
Fifth year guard Desmond Cambridge Jr. continued his high level of play in helping Arizona State sweep the Oregon schools on the road for the first time since 2010. ASU is 15-3 for the first time since 2008-09. He combined to score 42 points on 16-of-30 (53%) shooting, hitting 7 of his 15 three point attempts on the week. He also added four assists, four rebounds, three blocks, and four steals, impacting the game in many ways. All of that production came in an average of 29.5 minutes per game.

In the 90-73 win over Oregon, Cambridge Jr. made sure ASU started 5-1 in the Pac-12 for the first time since 1980-81. He stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 21 points, grabbing three rebounds, dishing out three assists, recording three steals, and registering a block.

Two days later he repeated his stardom, leading the comeback against Oregon State. Arizona State trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half, but Cambridge Jr. refused to let his team lose. He delivered his second straight 21-point game, doing it on 8-of-14 shooting and making 4-of-7 three pointers. Cambridge Jr. added two blocks and a steal on the defensive end, helping hold Beavers leading scorer Jordan Pope to 4-of-13 from the field. He scored 18 of his game-high 21 points after ASU went down by 16 (34-18) at the 5:07 mark of the first half, helping the Sun Devils storm back for a 74-69 win at Oregon State.

Cambridge Jr. has now scored 19+ in six games this season, three of those games coming in the first seven games of conference play. The Sun Devils are 9-0 when Cambridge Jr. scores in double figures.
