OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – Sun Devil Football's Joe Connolly, head coach of Football Sports Performance for the past four seasons, was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa), the CSCCa announced Tuesday. This honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession, and the ceremony is the highlight of the association's national conference each year. Connolly is entering his fifth season with ASU in 2022.
 
Master Strength and Conditioning Coach Joe Kenn, a former ASU football strength and conditioning coach himself, presented Connolly with the blue MSCC jacket on Tuesday May 3 at the Oklahoma City Omni Hotel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma during the CSCCa's national convention. Thirteen collegiate strength & conditioning coaches received the prestigious title of Master Strength & Conditioning Coach at the 2022 MSCC Ceremony, bringing the all-time total number of MSCC recipients to 230.

He is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional."
 
In order to receive this certification and corresponding title of distinction, an individual must meet the following criteria:
1) Hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree
2) Be a currently practicing, full-time strength & conditioning coach of a collegiate or professional athletic team
3) Hold current membership in the CSCCa and be in good standing
4) Hold the CSCCa Certification – Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified
5) Have a minimum of 12 years' experience as a full-time strength and conditioning coach of a collegiate and/or professional athletic team.
