GRAYHAWK GOLF CLUB
Arizona State University and Grayhawk Golf Club will host the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Division I Men's & Women's Golf Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. as a part of a three-year run. It is the first time a university and golf course will host the championships for three consecutive seasons.
The 2021 edition was the first time ASU has hosted a NCAA Golf Championship since the women hosted in 1992. This is the first time either the men's or women's championship has been hosted in the southwest since the 2012 men's tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif. and the 2008 women's tournament in New Mexico.
Established in 1994, Grayhawk Golf Club features two par-72 golf courses – Talon and Raptor – engineered with their own distinctive personalities. Talon offers a desert-style test of golf that skirts thick stands of Sonoran Desert and box canyons on the way to large multi-tiered greens. Raptor delivers more traditional challenges clearly laid out come-and-get-it style with generous fairways and deep greenside bunkers guarding crowned greens. Both of the highly acclaimed layouts at Grayhawk Golf Club are widely considered to be among the best golf courses in Scottsdale.
HISTORY AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sun Devil Women's Golf program is the most prestigious in the nation, taking home a NCAA record eight NCAA Championships. With Duke not making the 2022 edition, Arizona State will remain at the top of the title leaderboard and will look to add to their total. ASU won the National Championship in 1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2009, and 2017, dominating the women's collegiate golf scene for the last three decades. Nobody knew how to win at the NCAA Championship like legendary Head Coach Linda Vollstedt, who won five titles in nine years in the 1990's. The first came when current Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye was a player, starting the trifecta for Farr-Kaye. She later won as an Assistant Coach in 2009 and as a Head Coach in 2017, giving her three National Titles in three different roles.
