TEMPE - Arizona State men's tennis brought the brooms out to start its eight-team spring break tournament at the Kiwanis Tennis Center. After a commanding doubles victory, Christian Lerby, George Stoupe and Spencer Brachman came together in singles to clinch the match at 4-0. How it happened
ASU used new pairings and orders in today's match. Christian Lerby and Moritz Hoffmann combined at No. 1 doubles and earned a commanding 6-1 victory. Max McKennon and Spencer Brachman then put ASY ahead 1-0 with their 6-3 win at No. 3. Neither court ever trailed, and the No. 3 pairing opened with a 3-0 lead.
Idaho put up a respectable fight in singles play. The Vandals forced tiebreaks on four courts, but their efforts weren't enough. Brachman blazed through No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, followed by Stoupe's 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5. Lerby put a stamp on the day with a 6-4, 7-6(4) win at No. 3.
