TEMPE, Ariz. -- The 2022-23 season is relatively young, but the accolades are starting to roll in for sophomore sensation Léon Marchand.
The Pac-12 Conference named Marchand the Men's Swimmer of the Month for November after the Toulouse, France, native won each of the 11 events he competed in throughout the Sun Devils' dual meet at USC (Nov. 4) and their midseason invitational at NC State (Nov. 17-19). He has now won each of the 13 individual events he has raced in to begin the season, six of which came in November alone (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM x2, 400 IM, 200 fly).
Marchand also set new school records in both the 200 fly (1:39.57) and 400 IM (3:33.65) at the NC State Invite.
He is also a member of three Sun Devil Men's relays that have posted the fastest times in the nation in the 200 free relay, 400 medley relay and 800 free relay. All three times were set weeks ago in Greensboro at the NC State Invite.
Marchand is less than a year removed from a historic showing at the NCAA Championships, in which he won both the 200 IM and 200 breast -- setting an NCAA record in the 200 IM at 1:37.69 -- to become the school's first swimming National Champion in 22 years.
