Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (8-8, 2-2 Pac-12)
  • The Sun Devils ended the road trip with a win, coming away victorious at Oregon State in five sets after dropping the match at then-No. 16 Oregon two nights before.
  • The five-week road trip is finally over for ASU, going 6-7 in those matches. Arizona State was the only Pac-12 team to not play a home match in September. Among Power 5 teams, ASU was one of three, along with Northwestern and Ohio State, to be on the road for the entire month of September.
  • Senior outside hitter Iman Isanovic continues to add to her career kills total. She is currently in 13th place in career kills with 1,175. Her next Sun Devil great to pass is Terri Cox (1994-97), who has 1,185. This season, Isanovic has seven double-doubles and has reached double figures in kills 12 times.
  • Senior setter Shannon Shields had a break-out match in the win against the Beavers, notching a career-high 50 assists. Pacing the offense, she helped the team hit .276. She also had 10 digs for a double-double. She has 174 assists on the year, while the other primary setter Ella Snyder leads the team with 352.
  • The pin hitter duo of Isanovic and junior Marta Levinska have been leading the team in kills all season. Isanovic has 204 and Levinska is right behind with 193. Both have earned double-digit kills in the majority of their appearances this season, Isanovic with 12 and Levinska with 10. Sophomore Geli Cyr is the third Sun Devils in triple figures with 133 on the year.
  • On defense, the libero position continues to go back and forth between senior Annika Larson-Nummer and sophomore Jaden Ravnsborg, the latter of whom leads the team in total digs with 164. Two others are in triple figures in digs: Isanovic with 130 and Cyr with 104.

Opponent Outlook
UCLA (6-7, 0-4 Pac-12)
  • The Bruins have struggled to start conference play despite playing all matches at home, one of two winless teams in the Pac-12 (Cal is the other). The last four matches all went to four sets.
  • UCLA started the season 6-2 and has lost the last five in a row, with a loss to top-10 team San Diego prior to Pac-12 matches beginning.
  • Last season, ASU split its matchups against UCLA, winning at home and falling on the road. The win in Tempe, a reverse sweep, was the first for the Sun Devils against the Bruins since 2014.
USC (11-4, 3-1 Pac-12)
  • The Trojans are currently tied for second in the Pac-12, last weekend beating Utah and Colorado at home. The lone conference loss came to Washington State at home.
  • Skylar Fields is the reigning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week. The senior transfer leads the team in total kills with 259 and ranks No. 13 in the nation in total kills.
  • As a team, USC is first in the Pac-12 in aces and assists.
  • ASU is looking to get back on track in the series against USC, having dropped the last three. The last win for the Sun Devils was at home in 2018, upsetting a ranked Trojans team.
