TEMPE – The Arizona State men's tennis team will compete this fall in 12 tournaments across seven states, including four ITA events. ASU's slate see's the Sun Devils competing every weekend through November 12. The season opens Sept. 19 in Columbus, Ohio.
ASU returns a national standout in Murphy Cassone. Cassone returns to Tempe as the No. 1 ranked colligate tennis player in the nation by UTR and the reigning ITA Rookie of the Year. He was one of five men nationwide to earn a spot on the USTA Collegiate Summer Team - Cassone was one of only two underclassman in the group too. Cassone ended his rookie season on a nine-match winning streak and totaled a 15-5 mark in singles, including a perfect 9-0 record in Pac-12 play.
Also returning for the Maroon and Gold is Max McKennon. McKennon started his Sun Devil career with a trip to the French Open juniors and went on to play a major role in the Devils' Pac-12 Tournament run that season. Jacob Bullard, an All-Conference selection last year, also returns to the lineup.
ASU welcomes blue-chip newcomer Constantinos Koshis from Cyprus. Koshis had junior Grand Slam experience from three of the four majors at the time of his signing, and ranked as high as 53rd in the world. He joined Cassone in New York at the US Open where he picked up two qualifying wins in the junior's bracket.
