TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Water Polo has signed three fresh faces to the roster for the 2023 season in Graduate Transfer Tina Doherty, an attacker from MPSF foe Indiana, as well as two incoming freshmen, Zoe Frangieh and Amaya Leiby. The incoming class now sits at six signees.
Tina Doherty, an attacker, played four seasons with the Hoosiers and was most recently named a 2022 ACWPC All-American Honorable Mention which is the third of her career after earning ACWPC All-America Third Team honors in 2020, and ACWPC All-America Honorable Mention awards in 2021. She notched 48 goals this season for 190 in her career as a Hoosier and tacked on 22 assists this last season which was good for the second most points on the team.
Zoe Frangieh and Amaya Leiby were among the late signees last fall.
Frangieh is an attacker out of Los Gatos High School in Los Gatos, CA and was captain of her varsity team as a senior while being a three year varsity starter. As a senior she was also named 1st Team All-League, Second Team CCS Team, and the All-Star CCS Team.
Leiby is a center out of Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, Oregon. In 2021, Leiby notched 30 goals in four rounds of the playoffs, including a 12 goal game, to cap off her team's undefeated season including securing a win in the 2021 OSAA 6A Water Polo State Championship. She was on the USA Water Polo Cadet National Team in 2019-20, and as a freshman her high school won the Oregon State Championships.
