Germany- Incoming freshman goalie Pauline, "Pauli," Nelles will join the German U-20 national team as they prepare for the U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica. She is one of eight players in the NCAA that will be on the German national team.

"It is very exciting to see Pauli representing a very strong German team," head coach Graham Winkworth said. "She was the keeper when this group won the Euro's three years ago and was phenomenal. We will be cheering her on from Phoenix but will definitely be looking forward to seeing her at the end of the tournament as she has already made such a positive impression with her team here."

Germany will open up group match play on August 10th against Colombia and will face New Zealand and Mexico on the 13th and 16th. The World Cup will run until August 28th.

"Representing the country is an honor and always makes me proud. I am also looking forward to the time in Costa Rica and will give everything so that we as a team can achieve the maximum success," said Nelles who is one of many players on the Sun Devils roster who have experience playing with their respective national teams.

"It means a lot to have players represent their countries. It is a huge honor for the individual player but it also demonstrates the development the players receive in our competitive environment at ASU," Winkworth said.
