It was a record-setting school year for Sun Devil student-athletes both in and out of the classroom.

From earning the best Academic Progress Rate in the Pac-12 to averaging all-time high GPAs, here are some of our top academic achievements from the 2021-22 school year.

1: For the first time ever, Arizona State University led the Pac-12 Conference in Academic Progress Rate (APR). ASU recorded a multiyear APR average of 995 over a four-year period (2017-18 to 2020-21), which is an all-time high for the school.

3: ASU ranked third in the Pac-12 Conference after positing a Graduation Success Rate of 92 percent in December, marking the 14th consecutive year of maintaining or improving our all-time best.

4: The number of Sun Devils who earned CoSIDA Academic All-Americans First Team honors this year, marking just the 14th time in school history that there have been multiple First Team members in the same season. There were also two Sun Devil Triathletes, Olivia Jenks and Kira Stanley, who were awarded post-graduate scholarships by the NCAA. Jorinde van Klinken and Turner Washington both earned top honors in track and field.

4: Liam Bresette, Lilia Smith, Isa All and Rachael Holp are the four Sun Devil Swimmers who were recognized at the Spring Tip of the Fork ceremony, which gives high-performing student-athletes the experiences and education to become leaders in their community.

5: The number of Sun Devils to earn National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America honors, including Brandon CourtneyKyle ParcoAnthony ValenciaRyan Rochford and Josh Nummer

6: The number of Sun Devils to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors this year, the most since ASU had nine in 2011-12.

7: The "Super 7" Sun Devil Women's Tennis team sported a 3.89 GPA in the fall 2021 semester, helping SDA to an all-time high 3.32 GPA.

8: Eight Sun Devil Soccer players were among the 110 student-athletes recognized at the 2022 Spring Graduation ceremony. A total of 43 student-athletes graduated with honors, including 20 summa cum laude (3.80 to 4.00 GPA), 15 magna cum laude (3.60 to 3.79 GPA), and eight cum laude (3.40 to 3.59 GPA).

9: Nine teams on campus continued streaks of perfect multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in 2021-22. Men's golf owns the longest streak with eight in a row, followed by women's golf and gymnastics, both with six in a row. Women's basketball and men's tennis have four-consecutive perfect multiyear scores, while women's swimming and diving and beach volleyball are right behind them with three. Men's basketball and softball are building their streaks, this being their second time in row with a perfect score.

10: The Sun Devil Men's Swim team was one of 10 Division I programs to be named to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's Top Scholar All-America team after posting a collective 3.56 GPA for the Fall 2021 semester. The Sun Devils, who had the 10th-best team GPA across all Division I men's programs, round out a list that consists of Harvard, Brown and Columbia, amongst others.

11: The number of Water Polo players who were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation 2022 All-Academic team.

12: The number of Sun Devil Volleyball players who made the Dean's List in the Spring semester, sporting a team-wide 3.77 GPA.

MISC. NOTES AND NUMBERS

61: The number of student-athletes from Sun Devil Athletics who were part of the 909 across the conference recognized for their work in the classroom and named to the Pac-12 2021 Fall Academic Honor Roll. For a full list, visit here.

3.56 & 3.61: Fall 2021 semester GPAs for the Men's & Women's Swimming teams, respectively, which earned them a selection to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team.

Gymnastics' Cienna Samiley was one of 200 applicants to win the Jennifer G. Kaplan Endowment Scholarship through the ASU Hugh Downs School of Communications.

Cali Jankowski and Domenika Turkovic of Sun Devil Women's Tennis were instrumental in guiding the team to its 34th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. In a span of 48 hours, they went from competing in Norman, Oklahoma, to being recognized at the Spring graduation ceremony.

Played in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday and graduated on Monday.

Sun Devil football alum Marco Salas is the recipient of the Jim McKay Scholarship, which recognizes a student-athlete's outstanding academic achievements and their potential to make major contributions to the sports communications industry.
